  1. Grandpa had Alfetta GT seats, with both the Alfa and Lada tilt mechanism as far as I remember. With the 605 ones you may need to keep the Lada mechanism but with 405 ones I know for sure that you can use the 205/309 tilt mechanism as Peugeot did it with the 309. The 605 seats share some parts but may be wider than the 405 ones.
  2. The guy mostly wanted the 5 speed but finally the twin cam also ended under the hood. Probably quite a bit of fun with the short gears at a red light. A few years later grandpa bought his first Niva, too bad that the 132 wasn't still rotting in the backyard.
  3. Fast for a Niva, and for the early 80'. At that time there wasn't that much 4WD cars around.
  4. Back in the day grandpa had sold his rotten Fiat 132 to a Niva owner, must have been a really fast Niva with twin cam and 5 speed.
  5. I remember replacing a whining gearbox after years of towing an overloaded trailer, it can be done with the exhaust in place so not too much hassle. The funny thing was when we find out that there is two Lada 5 speed gearboxes and we couldn't find anything but the wrong one.
  6. The Kiekert should use CR1/3N batteries, maybe even two of them looking at how it is inside.
  7. On mine it's on the bottom part, "NEIMAN" on this side and "PLIP" on the other. Can you take pictures of the inside?
  8. The Niva I was talking about had LPG with carb, with no accelerator pump it was really awfull. Also valve seats may not like the dry LPG.
  9. Is your remote entry fob a Neiman or a Kiekert? The Neiman one need 3x V13GA/LR44/A76. The Kiekert one need 1x CR1/3N
  10. Pininfarina must have used many locally sourced parts.
  11. Just by looking at it I can remember the smell and the transmission noise. Do you plan to put a XU inside?
  12. This also works the other way around, with an old stiff diaphragm it's hard to build boost and there is no smoke. I can't remember by how much but fuel economy was improved when the stiff diaphragm of my Lucas pump was replaced.
  13. I know there is somebody in France with a ROC head that is trying to make some kind of 2.2 16v hybrid engine like Matra did. You on the other hand need the full set of F2 parts.
  14. For a 1975 F2 a JRD engine is outdated, the 8v engine only makes sense if you're waiting for a proper ROC to be rebuilt.
  15. Ford BDA, BMW M12/7 or Schnitzer 20-4 are more suited.
  16. b29, like in Chevron B29 I guess. It is said that the ROC F2 engine was designed by Mario Illien and developed by Hans Funda. The N9T bottom end is the last and best iteration of the Simca-Chrysler engine but not so special, you can find some N/A Tagora and Matra Murena with the "N9T" cast on the cylinder block. Try the French Autodiva forum for more info about your car: http://www.autodiva.fr/forum/viewforum.php?f=2
  17. The cap can do on a N/A Matra Murena, to be Murena friendly you also need those two mounting bosses:
  18. You can also use a Nissan 720 distributor cap for a period correct look. And for the existing heads why not beryllium copper valve seats, with this you can hope to spread the heat away from the cracking zone.
  19. The best way to have new heads cast is probably to made them JRD style so that they can also be machined for dual plugs and used in historic race cars. You should ask Marcel Morel about that: http://www.maurelec.fr/
  20. Check the low oil pressure switch on the engine block, this one doesn't need any trick to illuminate before start. The missing warning lights may be wired with the low oil pressure switch to illuminate before start.
  21. To feel the turbo working you need a turbo that work but also and a pump that give the extra fuel, if the boost compensator isn't doing his job then the boost is useless.
  22. How is the wear on the pump part? This original Bosch unit must be really well built for this part to be the first to go.
  23. This looks very italian, it's specific to the 404 C right? Lada had (has?) allmost exactly the same system: Might be a good supply if the parts match, they looks like ugly knock off of 70' Fiat parts but they must withstand the russian winter and so some may even be better engineered.
  24. The rectangular ones are more period correct for a 505, mostly Cibié or S.E.V. Marchal at the time at least in France.
