13x16 is the deck size, so most is covered, but still not bad. Our summers are filled with Mosquitos and if your eating outside it usually attracts wasps - so a nice screened in area for outdoor dining is really nice, or for even just hanging out without having to douse yourself with deet heavy bug spray.

They will be redoing the siding on both the side and obviously the back walls, and they will redo the overhead, so none of it will will match the old, but the old won't show any more. We have to wait for the building inspector to come tomorrow before they can go any further. So tomorrow hopefully they will sheet-rock the inside, and finish with the baseboard heat units that had to be modified. then the carpeting guy has to do a little fixing. I think the siding guys will get to us either the end of this week or beginning of next week. It's not exactly how I would do it but the whole complex is being done at once, all the same. We were supposed to be done a couple of weeks ago but I had guests that week so I asked them to come back a different day. We are now the last of 350 units, although they currently have 9 units, in the same condition as mine, waiting for the inspector tomorrow.

Went and picked up (4) square 16x8 BBS Style 5 wheels with some nice Hankooks today. Got em' for a steal. Gonna have loads of grip on the E30 now! :D

But I've been soo busy also trying to sell a Camry that I haven't had time to remove the damn sunroof off the Peugeot.

I told my paint guy I'll have it in by Friday...but it'll probably end up being more like this Saturday.

This past weekend I replaced the front 02 sensor on the R, installed a Snabb fresh air pipe onto it (from MAF to turbo), and found two loose spark plugs, the same two I found when I first bought the car! (#1 and #3). It was just starting to have a slight stumble and had thrown a #1 misfire code which I found when clearing the O2 sensor code. Car runs AWESOME once again...

850 is still down with not wanting to start. Found an 850 at the wrecker - so changed the cam sensor, checked crank sensor (within rating), and changed coil and ignition module. It has spark and fuel pressure, and finally fired Sunday, but started puking oil out everywhere it could - turns out either all my test starting to find the issue filled the oil with fuel and it was way over full, or one or more of the injectors aren't holding pressure and leaking fuel into the pistons. I picked up the injectors off the donor 850 today, and I'll do fresh plugs and the used injectors to see if that resolves the no start.

Some used tires to get rid of the flat spots and then it's time to sell it on I think... I have to start lobbying for a winter car as the 89' better not do another winter and be nicely disassembled in my garage by the time the snow flies, and the 850 isn't it.

Best for last - Had a meeting in Saskatoon today (600km round trip), so drove the 89' 505 Turbo... It's sat unused since getting the fender repainted, and it was a flawless trip. What an awesome highway car... :D

Super busy last few days. Drove down in the Volvo to San Diego a few days ago on Sunday...just got back. 1200 miles round-trip without any hiccups.

Found a house, landed an internship for the school year, and signing the lease for the new pad tomorrow :D

Can't wait to go and get my new tires mounted/balanced. Here is a photo from last week's test fit at my friend Dimitry's race team's shop....happy that I ordered new tires lol.

They race a few E30's for the LeMons team called "Jaywatch".

Freshh tires for the style 5's. Went to install them last night but ran into a few issues:

  • First off, my front adapters are kaput. Total shit. I thought I over-torqued one of them, but it was already junk. No communication with the seller, but that's sorta my fault, due to the fact that I ordered them almost seven months ago, had them shipped to my aunt's house, where my car was sitting while I was at school.
  • So I've ordered a very high-quality pair of studded 18mm adapters from 8380 labs - however one of the custom bolts is back-ordered till next Friday. <_<
  • Next, my fenders weren't rolled. On my way out of the shop, I got maaaad rub - so I turned around, and we ghetto-rolled the rears with the the handle of their shop floor jack. Still got a a bunch of lip I can roll, so I'll be getting them properly rolled by another e30 enthusiast's machine.
  • Also I need to do something about my soft spring rates. I think I'm going to upgrade from the wack Eibach's I have, to something like H&R's. It's gonna drive me nuts eventually.

It's crazy just how much wheels and tires can change a car... lol

Good luck with the front adapters... I'm very curious to hear your comments on the handling / front steering feel running the adapters, since my mods on the 505 will be doing something similar to an extent.

Most definitely Rabin. I was starting to feel a little bummed today when I realized that I've been starting to sell a lot of my old stuff, like downhill bikes, etc.. to pay for my car habit.

The Peugeot's paint/body is going to cost me a lot, and on top of that, I keep finding things that I need to fix on the E30.

Multiple project cars is a very sure fire way to be broke twice as fast...

Heck - I even got rid of my Subaru beater DD since I was spending too much $$$ keeping it in good nick instead of spending that money on a car I actually liked.

You have a bigger problem as your e30 is a very sweet little car... Best advice to you I can give is to keep your cars in running driving condition, if you attempt a major project like the 505 repaint you have to push through to completion or the car ends up being a worthless unfinished project...

Project creep is always a factor as you're finding out with your E30 - it's hardly ever a simple matter of bolting on some adapters and wheels...

unless they're brand-new, cars always need something. this is why you should always like what you drive, and drive what you like! it's not so bad, though...wait until you get a house! :o:D

looking forward to seeing the new paint job on your 505. and the e30 is looking great! when you get the adapter thing straightened out, would love to see some head-on photos to see how the new wheels & tires fill out the wheel wells...

i sort of fell off the face of the earth this past week -- my grandmother passed away, so i made a trip to louisiana (where i'm from) for the funeral. this was my mom's mother, she was 99 -- she would have been 100 in december -- so while we'll miss her, it wasn't tragic or anything...she had an extremely long and productive life. my dad had already bought a new car before all of this happened, his volvo was getting to the point where it needed some expensive repairs so he traded it in for a new infinity g37 sedan. i went with him on saturday, the day after the funeral, to pick the new car up. with the new q50 coming out, they are practically giving the g37s away:

here's another photo from my trip -- oyster poboy with chicken & sausage gumbo from the acme oyster house in new orleans:

before i left, i did some work on the vw jetta. after i got the a/c fixed (see earlier post), a guy in traffic told me that my brake lights didn't work. checked it out, and he was correct -- the taillights and reverse lights worked fine, but the brake lights were out and the center part of the 3rd brake light didn't work. according to the vw forums, that last symptom pointed to a worn-out brake switch, so i replaced that and the 3rd brake light worked correctly but the brake lights still didn't work. i checked out the lights themselves and the bulb holder assembly was broken -- i've attached a detail pic to show the problem, the bulb could not be installed correctly. it would have probably been possible to repair the bulb holder, but parts are cheap and readily available for the jetta so i just got a new one and the problem was solved.

Sorry to hear about your grandmother Andre. But happy to hear she had lived a long life.

It's how we felt when my grandfather passed last year, he had developed severe dementia, and it's painful to watch my other grandfather following suit.

I've been pretty AWOL for the last few weeks. Have had my hands tied. Miss my Peugeot.

Here's what I've been doing with my time instead:

Finished the fitment on my E30. Next up are some stiffer springs (h&r race) as the eibachs are WAY too soft for the change in wheel/tire size.

I've rendered my rear seats useless - which is pretty ridiculous having a four door.

Here are some photos. I'm headed back to San Diego on the 7th next Saturday, so I'm scrambling to finish some projects at home.

Cheers!

The OEM mudflaps really grew on me, quickly. I love the beefy look they're giving the car.

LOL how about a good "friday the 13th post"?

Went down to the beach around noon. the waves weren't very good, but still managed to catch a few sets.

After a good hour or so out, I was coming in for a quick break and as I hopped of my board POP!

Got stung by a stingray. The first hour and half was some of the worst paint I've ever felt, due to the initial shock and venom release.

My buddy drove my car home for me though, and I've been chilling with my foot in buckets of hot water letting it bleed and the venom out.

Looks like I'll be limping at the sorority parties this weekend :D

I drove from Sacramento to Rancho Cucamonga for 2013 SubieFest with my MI16.

Poor old MI16 did not get too many looks by younger croud...I've heard some one said it's British car!

So far I did 480 miles one way,and absolutely NO problems at all. Three Subaru's suffered from overheating up hill, but not my MI16,A/C was ON for the whole trip.

  • 2 months later...

Been a while since anyone updated this thread - so I waited until I had something good!

My brother in Toronto just took possession of the 505 Turbo hot rod parts Mike Aube was selling on e-bay. :D It was such bad timing that I promised myself I couldn't bid on any of it as I just had too much stuff on the go. But as the days passed and no bids were made, I figured I HAD to bid on the new Dani head at least... I won it (much to my surprise), and when nothing else was sold, and I spoke to Mike directly I realized I should really try to sort out getting the rest. Thankfully my wife agreed and I also bought the Griffin rad, custom ground "3/4 race" cam, and the lowering springs. (Arun picked up the Torsen diff for his other 505 STI V6 since it has an open diff.)

My 89' 505 Turbo went into storage last month (Proper secure building with concrete floors), and we picked up 2006 V70R which joins our 2000 V70R as our winter vehicles. The deal with my wife is that one of the V70R's has to go once I fix up a 505 daily driver.

So now the plan is to resurrect my beloved White 1986 505 GL-Turbo that Arun gave me years ago, and that I had driven up from Virginia. The Dani motor that I bought from JJG's wagon will be resealed and gone over before installing into the GL. I'll identify what the "3/4 race cam" actually is (Hopefully with help from Stewart and V-M), to decide if I should use it, use stock cam, or if I can have an OEM cam reground to Stewart's specs. The lowering springs will go on after I reverse engineer their design specs, then install to see how good they are. If they're good - I should have the details to have sets made should anyone else want a set. New Dani head from Mike will be saved for the high end motor plan for the 89'...

Success all depends on how much time I can find this coming spring / summer and how much spring / summer we actually get. (This past year was horrible as we had winter up until summer started in June.) Goals for the DD will be determined by how much I can get done this winter - the hope is to have the Dani engine sorted and ready for install come nice weather. Having two good reliable family cars while I sort my Peugeots will hopefully pay off. :)
