N9TE
Eh, at €77 vs €75 I'm OK with just 1. I agree it should come to the US for cost reasons. If André doesn't want to deal with it, I'd be happy to. Hmmm... I have a PayPal account that I use to buy things, but have never used it to receive things. Is it any big deal to use my paypal to take money? OR, if Rabin wants to take the money and I'll handle the , that's fine too.
Bean
Moving cash from Paypal back to your associated chequing account is easy and no fee - but it takes 5-7 business days to do. I tried checking online to see what wire transfer would cost with no luck - I'll have to check with the bank and then advise how much that adds to the cost. Etienne wanted the transfer in Euros so that he doesn't have any extra fees on his end as well. Rabin
N9TE
It can cost for a wire transfer fee. Check with your bank. The cost should have dropped since I knew about it. Back then it was $10 You'll need: 1. ABA number (also referred to as Routing Number, Bank Number) 2. Bank account (also referred to as a DDA number [demand deposit account]) 3. S.W.I.F.T. #: (this will be the financial institution's number) I used to get a few overseas payments and they always bitched about the fee (which I had no part of). And better hurry up before the Euro implodes and you have to do it in Francs! Also, you'd be wise to know who you're sending money to as you have no recourse if it goes sideways. andrethx
i also seem to recall that wire transfers cost about US$10...although i certainly hope that this doesn't turn out like .... didn't realize that george was in on this...that's good news. i am happy to be the distribution point or whatever... andré
andrethx
finally got a chance to check with my bank about the wire transfer. it's a credit union, they are good for lots of things but i don't think wiring funds to france is one of them...they said it would cost $40 to wire money to france, regardless of the amount. can anybody else do better with their bank? andré
Bean
Me too - $30 for payment up to $10000. Sorry for the delays - In-laws coming this weekend and in a mad rush to get the basement habitable for them! Rabin
Bean
Hi guys, Looks like we have our 5th cable with my brother Arun on board for one as well. He's also willing to be the shipping point, so I'll take the paypal payments and Arun will ship out when they come. I'll finalize pricing with Etienne and PM you with my paypal info so that you can send payment. (Ideally sending a "gift" and paying the service fee as I don't want to incur the paypal fees for this, but still being the cheapest way to send funds.) andrethx
thanks for your work on this, rabin, when you have the final amounts please pm us with the total & paypal info...will gift you the funds asap... andré
Bean
Well - after 3 trips to the bank, I canceled the wire to Etienne as his bank is charging an extra $40 to accept the wire. This is on top of my bank wanting $30 to send it! I just can't in good conscience spend $70 on just sending payment. Bank advised to just sent a money order snail mail. I hope that's OK with everyone. I'll send Etienne an e-mail to confirm to ensure it's OK, and once all is figured out - all depends how much the fee to send to France via registered mail. Sorry for the hassle. Rabin
andrethx
makes sense...thanks for keeping us updated, i appreciate all of your efforts on this... andré
Bean
Alrighty - payment has been sent. Once Etienne has confirmation of funds then he'll ship to Arun right away. Sorry for the delays, and thanks for the patience while we figured out the best way to do the transaction. I'll post again once Etienne tells me they've been sent, and again once Arun gets them and forwards them on. Rabin
Bean
Alrighty - payment has been sent to a relative of Etienne's and I'm just waiting for confirmation from Etienne on when they get sent out. Rabin

Bean
Wow - they look great! I haven't seen them yet myself - but extremely happy that everything ended up perfect. Took a little longer to sort out shipping and payment than anticipated, but worth it I think. If Etienne ends up developing more items we'll at least have a game plan to follow to speed things up. Paul
HI, 10 years later and I need this upper cable ! Is there anywhere that I can get this ? Or, is there some way to repair it ? Maybe there is a speedometer cable repair service ? .......... Paul
Bean
Hi Paul, If your speedo cable sheath is in good shape you *should* be able to replace the cable with a universal speedo repair kit. I’ve heard others make this claim, but haven’t done it myself. If the sheath is shot and the spiral steel is showing and all rusty you’ll need to source a replacement. Should be able to find decent used from the vendor, or from someone like @PeugeotPilot Thanks, Rabin
