  1. Pot metal... I had to google that. The french equivalent would be "cochonium". Looking at the result it's more of a proper Zamak, the really nasty stuff would have self destruct years ago. When you talk about cadmium plating is that the real thing or a zinc plating?
  2. Big project indeed, the trim on those seats reminds me of the one on mk1 309 GTI. As for the cheap electric connectors that's what killed the 605 at launch.
  3. I can't find it anymore on the web but I remember two brits had shortened 205 racks to fit some kind of old roadster, they did this on the boss:
  4. Whe don't have ratios yet but with openings from 5.7 to 6.7 you may have some serious drop depending of the gearbox. The old 1.6 HDI 120hp had a 6.7 opening with the MCM 6-speed, if you take the 6th out you got a 5 speed with 5.7 opening.
  5. At last some specs! So same torque rating, same mass and same compactness than the BE4 ; so far so good.
  6. If you can't find a stock one look for universal capacitive senders.
  7. On 4th N°3 is still in mesh with N°1 but it's the only time that there is no load, just like in neutral. Also it's rpm related so it can only be N°1, N°3 or N°4. Speaking about N°4 is the sound exactly the same in reverse?
  8. Imput shaft (N°1) and lower shaft (N°3) are in mesh all the time.
  9. So you're not familliar with those technical drawings, no problem: N°1 is the imput shaft, on every gear except 4th power goes from N°1 to N°3 then to N°2 and to the diff. N°5 is the pinion for 1st gear, N°7 for 2nd, N°8 for 3rd and for 4th gear the synchromesh N°9 links directly N°1 with N°2. 5th gear use pinions N°11 and N°12 and N°13 is for reverse. Seeing those all day I tend to forget that it wasn't that easy to understand at first. Here is another view: I may have mixed BA10/5 and BA7/5 gearboxes on those drawings but that's not really important to understand the big picture.
  10. Isn't 4th direct? ie 1:1 ration on the gearbox. Edit: Yes it is.
  11. They may have used the US specific leftovers parts somewere but in France it is really unlikely to see non catalog cars. Usually those where reimported back to France or sell to Peugeot factory workers. The seats I found for my 309 are said to be leftovers from Japanese market 309 mk2 ; they sell very poorly there and those seats ended on a few late Spanish 309 and at least one 309 currently in Cuba.
  12. I was driving the other day and I saw a very special 405, one with US bumpers! It was a dark gray one that looked like a daily driver.
  13. The fog lamp reflector may be damaged but even if it is you're lucky anyway.
  14. I'ts all about time and money, not using the Microsquirt is cheaper only if you consider your own work as free.
  15. It's cheaper and a true plug and play but much more specific, using a mass produced Microsquirt board may be a better solution: http://www.mr2oc.com/56-supercharger-turbo-faq/432883-technosquare-techtom-map-dli-4agze-ecu-ftw.html
  16. Looks like you can make a cheaper Megasquirt by reusing most of the Motronic board components: http://www.are-inc.se/motronic-adapter.html http://turbobimmer.narod.ru/EFISM1.3.html
  17. Servicebox is the online parts catalog from Peugeot, there pros can order parts and also pay for more technical documentation. That's how I know that 4059.06 is NLA. As Peugeot isn't currently operating in the US you may or may not be able to register as a US shop and if trying as a brit shop you may have problems with your US IP address.
  18. Can you login to servicebox from the US?
  19. 4059.06 is listed NLA by Peugeot, 4059.07 isn't but could be anyway as servicebox isn't very reactive.
  20. 20 or 22mm external diameter? 4059.07 for 22mm 4059.06 for 20mm
  21. Fom my 309s I use a factory manual, it's not exactly the same thing as it's only about what was produced at the time of printing. Anyway my 309 are not so far of the timeframe and that's in any case way better than a général master schematic. https://issuu.com/lamicale309/docs/schemas_electriques_309 So in 1991 the syntax for the first letter was : Moteur Planche de bord Habitacle Coffre
  22. It's not the kind of Peugeot diagram I'm accustomed to but what looks more or less similar is the use of the first letters of the names: PC3 may be on the Passenger compartment, or maybe even the dashboard (Planche de bord) ; M484 must be on the Motor compartment and the M in PM1 may mean ground (Masse). The C on PC3 may be for Connector. HM3 is a ground but what does H means? maybe Habitacle (passenger compartment) but being for the rear lights it must be located on the trunk (Coffre). Andre dou you have any tips about that on the manual?
  23. The flasher relay is named "centrale clignotante" in french.
