Are those "ABS" front (and rear) brake disks different than earlier models? Where to find in europe?

V-M

The fronts are different yes, the rear's are the same. The are fairly expensive here in the US, not sure where you could find them in europe :P

here are some western hemispheres has (located in california)

Can you or anyone say how those are different? Ferodo seems to have them, at least there seems to be. -> Brakes

Here's something that's maybe related to your question:

http://leverdie.club.fr/RECHERCHE.htm

V6 and Turbo Injection models with ABS had the same front rotors which are different from the rest?

Yep, those are correct ones. Nissan Patrol have nearly same dimensions but disc diameter is 295mm compare to original 283mm but that can be machined so no brobs on there... let's see. (patrol disks cost 40e) :P

Sounds good (if I ever get a 505 with ABS ;-D) Do those Patrol discs also have that "sensor ring" for ABS? It looks like a solid part of the original discs (looking those pictures) or is it removable? Are you thinking about a brake update with bigger rotors for your '85 505?-) Also front bearings should be different and the hub nut is a huge one (I recently read about these from some Peugeot-L message, IIRC)...

Hub is still on in those pictures so no brobs with that. No upgrade for me, I just try to help oldman with that red one. Yes, center nut is size 50 :P

yeah can't get the abs rotors from tirerack, we've tried..

let us know if you end up with the nissan rotors V-M.

Surely! Yeah I was doupting also tirerack but he was "pushing heawily" at they have correct ones. :P

They are a guaranteed fit. Which means we would pay for the shipping if there was a fitment problem.

:)

About upgrade, My opinion is at if you don't drive in heavy cornered track only upgrade is good pads (fex EPC or ferodo 6000) and silicon based licuid for brakes

I'm working on something for disks for either car - but first will be the non-abs...

The guy that is machining the 5x120 pattern on the hubs for my car, and making the custom spacer to fit the wheels is going to look at what would be necessary to machine custom center hats that fit the hubs and mount to Wilwood racing disks. The replacement disks are cheap (~$30USD), are light, cross drilled, and readily available.

Initially the plan was to do it so that I can run 12" rotors and a custom bracket to run 4 piston Wilwood calipers - but it wouldn't take much to do it up so that it'd just replace the stock rotors.

Once we do the prototype's for everything (my car) - then I'll have an idea on how much it costs and I can see if it's worth doing for others. We just recently looked at doing them so that the disk is a floating disk - very trick sounding, but a cheap upgrade when machining them from scratch - extra cost will be the mounting pins/bolts - but again they are available as well. (Rigidly mounting alloy centers to iron disks cause warping in racing - likely not an issue for everyday driving, but it's a cheap upgrade - why not!)

Spacer info: Spacer will locate itself on the bolt flange's out circle, and provide the locating ring for the BMW wheel, studs will just hold it all tight together.

Depending on the costs - I might be able to provide complete units, or just the "hats" so that they could be built overseas and shipping would be cheap.

Current situation, Nissan disks are machined and looking nice. There was 5 bolt attach pattern so those did needed to weld before machining work. But seems at that can be done with small effort.

Old man did already one side fitting and claimed at looks ok.

I did find also better alternative: Toyota Landcruiser Diesel 4.2L (90-92) Front disks 286mm/105mm/25mm and 6attach bolts

Welcome to the forum Christophe!

Cool that some french guys are finally dropping in.

That disc looks like a perfect candidate! What is its original application and what program do you use to model the discs?

Hi johnny

i am a mechanical designer, so i use Solidworks 2008 in my job

it's very simple to draw several parts in 3D..

like shock absorber : http://leverdie.club.fr/Amortisseur_V6.htm

or front brake disc : http://leverdie.club.fr/disque_ABR.htm

or motor bump : http://leverdie.club.fr/1807.40.htm

or remote control for 505 : http://leverdie.club.fr/PLIP_505/PLIP-505.htm

Hi Christophe, I've been to your site many times. Lots of cool and unique things there.

Wow, 690 euros! That's $1,069 USD. I got mine for a steal from PNA for $500 last year. I think that can still be done.

Hehe, I'm currently educating myself to mechanical engineer and I want to work as a mechanical designer when i'm done. :P

I use SolidWorks alot too so that's why I was wondering. Didn't know that it could be used for PCB's and components though.

But where/what are that rotor from?

I would like to see if I could buy them locally.
