krede
Hi everybody. I am putting together a 505te/tea engine for my matra murena, and have a couple of questions regardsing the old peugeot engine. I am fitting a different turbo that has a t25 flange, and had the impression that the standard turbo was a t3. but the T3/T25 adaptor I have do not fit the exhaust manifold. What flange will fit the manifold ? What is the stock boost pressure of the N9tea engine? Best regards Christian
Bean
Hi Christian, The Peugeot uses a proprietary flange that is closest to the T25, but it's not. I also want to change my turbo to a newer T25 and I think there are two options: 1) weld up 3 of the flange stud holes, and redrill and tap the T25 pattern, and then machine the outlet to match. Its very close, but the Peugeot's outlet is round and the T25 is more square. 2) get a T25 flange and either have it welded to the end as is, or mill out the manifold and weld the flange into the end. In the 505 clearance to the motor mount is very tight, so milling out the manifold and welding it into it might be needed. Welding cast is a specialist skill set, and I'm guessing that it might be cast inconel but I haven't verified that. I've prepared 3 manifolds for welding, and Ive got 2 stainless T25 flanges ready to go so that I can do either option. Rabin
krede
Thanks for the answer Rabin. Figures that i wouldn't be as easy as to just bolt on a new turbo. Anyway, I think I will get a flange made up that fits the manifold and make an adapter with a t25 flange in the other end. Might be able to angle it a bit to have better clearance for the turbo too. Bean
Making an adapter might be an option in the the Murena, but 505's don't have enough clearance to the motor mount. Since the T25 and the Peugeot are so close in size, it'll take some doing to make the adapter nice and short. Rabin
keebs
If you're going to be doing that it's not much more difficult to make a tailor fit tubular manifold. Costa Mesa R&D has an exhaust port flange pattern which makes it a more feasible task. As for the stock manifold being inconel. It's probably more similar to ni-resist which is very close to inconel but easier to machine.
