brownie
After the 504 and the 505 Peugeot stops producing midsized sedans. It's place was taken by a smaller sedan, the 405 or the larger 605. Later came the 406, 407 and 607. But now they are back with one luxury sedan, the 508. It should replace both the 407 and 607 and is available as sedan and estate. There will even be a hybride 4X4 version, the 508 RXH.
norcal505
Now this is a good looking Peugeot. Much, much, nicer looking than the 407 or the 607..
Ikenna
Unfortunately, those that have test-driven it didnt leave the car smiling. A lot of complains! Well, I wouldnt know how bad it is. But one thing is clear, "Peugeots have seized to be Peugeot", for quite a long time. Ikenna.
brownie
I can agree with you both. Indeed much prettier than the 07-series. But it has been years that Peugeot produced a car that can match the feeling of the 505. I would say the 406 is the last real Peugeot. Models afterwards have that sturdy german feel to it, like all european cars in fact. Most european brands have lost their identity and are all more or less the same in ride quality/comfort. norcal505
The 607 with the update is a decent looking car, however, it's FWD layout, and heaviness are kinda turnoffs. I think It'd be cool to do a photo shoot with a 505 & 508. Cool comparison.
nick@nite
TT and the RCZ are twins 508 sedan is a cross breed between a IS250 Infiniti and the Audi A4 The 508 Wagon I would be the most interested in though it sort of resemble the 530XI wagon too! Also funny when we just did an oil filter change in Peter Paine's 407 wagon here @ the shop, it takes the small lawnmower filter as the 07+ Mini Cooper, which Mini is using Peugeot engines now instead of having BMW make them in Brazil then shipping them over to England
norcal505
I don't care man.. I'd drive the hell out of a RCZ...
brownie
@ nich@nite: Yeah, all modern cars seem globally the same or derived from each other. But I just read in the newspaper that Peugeot is in 2013 coming with a new large luxury sedan. It's only in the concept phase, so probably a lot of things change, but this looks very promising if you want originality: It's a four-seater roomy car that can be converted easily to a 6-seater with folded up seats. It's 4 wheel drive with a 204 hp dieselengine in the front and two 30 hp electric engine on the back wheels.
Bean
I think they really did a great job on the styling of the 508. It's just as distinctive as any other brand out right now, and as Brownie points out - they all follow the same general recipe. I chalk it up to a sign of the times. I also think the RCZ is better looking than the TT, and while in photos there's a resemblance, many write the cars are totally different in the flesh. (And many like the RCZ more!) I'd like to try the new crop of Peugeot's out, but I doubt that'll be anytime soon. In the mean time, it still makes me happy to drive my car back to back with a 2011 BMW 328 x-drive and STILL be happy with how good my car still is.
