  1. thanks for the explanation - i think im getting it
  2. hmmm. if the backspacing is more than 5.5" then it will hit the strut and if its less than 5.5 it will (or could) rub the fender. rubbing the fender is the easier problem to solve, with rolling the fender, or going a bit wilder and cutting it into a wider radius or adding flares....
  3. have you driven without it? is engine noise much louder?
  4. andrethx - neat info on the konig - i couldnt put BBS caps on it in good conscience tho haha. i saw a rolls the other day, with its "floating" center caps, and thought some similar dancing lion caps would be cool on my car....that stayed upright while the wheel spun.... so as for backspacing, lets review what bean said earlier (mind, these numbers are approx. - some are rounded to the closest inch cuz they really a mm measurement, etc). also im writing this out to help myself get a grip on it as well hehe pug 15 wheel has about 4.5" backspacing the adapter adds an inch so then we want wheels with 5.5" backspacing so... 17x8's with 36mm offset could work, no? or did i botch up my math somewhere. could look good if the wheels come out to be closer/flush with the wheel opening
  5. well, pick a school on our coast and drive the pug cross country!
  6. ok, chiming in with my yakima rack
  7. hey dont listen to bean, our 4bangers are quite alright. we're a higher class of 505 owner - we enjoy a bit of excitement and suspense when merging if u ever wanna swap your tan interior for a blue one, i'd be up for it hehe and congrats on college! didnt realize you were so young (dont take offense to that) - you're a pretty accomplished car guy for your age!
  8. nice buy - i saw that one on ebay for a while, its pretty close in looks to my 84 if youre in the tri-state area, id say take a trip to ramsey peugeot in nj, with a list of stuff u want. plenty of parts cars there (jeez bean, look at me, shilling for the guy...haha) and also, i'd meet u for a beer and a 84/85 505 photoshoot haha
  9. that is so wicked. anyway, bean said a good way to work this is to know what rim u want to begin with, and then figure out the measurements for the adapter at that point. ive found my wheel. the "privat remember" - its a replica of the bbs rs, but so much cheaper (160ish per rim). made by konig. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/w...typ=Car/Minivan do we have pics of 505s with 16" rim and 17" rims (verified size)? ive seen pics of em with larger rims, but never know for sure what size they are, except that theyre bigger than 15 hehe. theres different offsets available of these also. side note - theres another konig knockoff called the "rewind" - mimics the minilite/panasport design. would like a set of those for my camaro! and arent theyre wheel names cute.
  10. ah cmon guys - at least its a 505 thats not half way in the ground and stripped of her parts - someone loves that pug! (granted, hes not the most tasteful man around, but hey....)
  11. haha. i kinda knew bean and norcal would dig this i seen pics of the 89 filler piece (or rather, of 89s with the filler piece), but DIDNT see that shot of the older one with the heckblende in the catalogue (but im sure i ran across those pdf pages on another site, guess i just didnt notice the heckblende pic)....damn, so its out there, somewhere.... regarding making it - my cousins used to be into lowriders and 50s and 60s kustoms - they made their own taillights for a couple projects, melting red plastic (i'll have to ask them, im sure it was a specific product) over molds they made out of wood (iirc)...they usually made lil bullet taillights or copies of a car's taillights that were slightly smoother or with rounded edges. another thought thats been chewing away at me - our 505s need fiberglass hoods. and possibly fenders. also, i wanna retrofit the automatic trunk opener lincoln towncars have, and shave off the outie-belly button trunk lock and when i was in peru, i saw a modern, most likely fwd peugeot that, according to its emblems, was a 505. the emblems are nice, 3dimensional block lettering like on a modern 307 or anything else peugeot. need to find those. and since theres no smoking in my car (and i have the older dash), i'd like to replace/cover the ashtray with a knightrider voice scanner light. alright, lemme stop. actually, that catalogue heckblende looks like its sitting between the euro-taillights, which i think are shorter than the american ones. still, i'm gonna do some more internet hunting for one oh, and norcal, i grabbed that white 505 off jalopnik, it was a "found on the street" post a while back - hope the owner knows his car is somewhat internet famous hehe
  12. yeah, i'd very very very vey likely have to get a set of knockoffs hehe. when the time comes, i'll def hit you up about that im thinking this holiday weekend i'll have some time to do some photoshops...wanna see mesh rims, panasport (minilite copies), and maybe koseis and enkeis and rotas (since i'm gunning for a 4x100 pattern, those should be plentiful on craigslist)
  13. on the other hand, maybe it wouldnt be as cool as i imagined (bad pshop, but in my head i still think it could look cool)
  14. so, first, the "heckblende" - the aftermarket red filler light panel that would have the car's model printed across it...couple examples i remember seeing them for sale (for bmws, benzs, porsches, and even IROC-Z camaros) in Beverly Hills Motoring Accessories catalogues when i was a lil kid....now, does anyone recall a heckblende being made for the 505? Cuz i'd want one. Having seen one up close and in person (and i dont remember if it was a Hella-brand one tho), on a 924, i remember thinking it looks rather flimsy and cheap to make....i think this would be a cool project for my 505, to set her apart a bit more, and give her another "80s" touch. just rambling a bit, its an idea i've had for a while now, and i felt like typing.
  15. these are the bbs mesh wheels i meant. BBS RS i think theyre called. wouldnt expose the brake hardware too much heh
  16. i'm good with it being a 4x100 adapter. i'm already keeping my eyes open for any deals on bbs mesh rims. once i get those, i can play some yazoo and be totally 80s. *grin*
  17. they got back to me, yay someone said they'd pick it up friday - if they dont show, then i have dibs. we'll see what happens.
  18. came across this on cl while looking for parts. (pug 505 is listed in their ad) http://worcester.craigslist.org/pts/2071889674.html
  19. well, i emailed (no phone #), havent heard back.
  20. heh, they could pass for brochure shots
  21. oh...dangit. i should catch up on reading the list!
  22. do a search on searchtempest.com (it combs all craigslists) for "peugeot" and you'll find some good ones (and notice the recurring theme of original owners only selling their peugeot because they need the money for hospital bills, or are too old/incapacitated to drive anymore
  23. ehhh. looks like any other new car, but with a chrome lion on it.
  24. i posted about mikes 89 and 88 in the for sale section of this site - check out the post 1320turbo....his 88 is a turn key get in and drive car. i'd snap it up if i could, but we were originally going to trade cars (my 84 sti auto for his 88 5spd), but that fell thru (my gf veto'd it heh)....and i cant just buy it off him cuz i have nowhere to store another car (even street parking here i'd need to pay for a permit, and i cant swing the extra loot for that now)....since youre in jersey, i'd say talk to mike and see if you can go check out the car at ramsey (alberto is the head guy there, he'll put dealer plates on it and give u the keys, so long as mike vouches for u that youre not gonna abscond with the car haha)....the gas tanks pretty much empty tho, so maybe pop in 5 bucks of gas. but yeah, anyway, the 88 is a good deal. the 89 if youre really inclined to repair it would be the more mint of the 2 cars - the 88 needs to be hit with rubbing compound and polished properly to look good. also the hood has a rust spot - otherwise, shes just dusty all around. no rust underneath to speak of either, shes solid. personally, im with u, i prefer the 88 and older body. the 89's taillights and wing bother the heck out of me hehe and as far as parts go - anyone in our trisstate area should be going to ramsey - alberto has a ton of parts, and knowledge, but he doesnt use the internet much from what i can tell - i should make him a site.... he has no shortage of customers, and i think thats all due to word of mouth - hes that good
