bergxu
Hello all, The radio in my 1989 505 wagon is dead and I would like to remove it and send it off to be repaired. Can anyone help me on the procedure for pulling the head unit out of the center console stack?
andrethx
is your radio an original unit (blaupunkt, etc.) or is it a more recent addition? the original peugeot-labeled radio/cassette units and the blaupunkt units require two little metal handles to remove it, they can be purchased at your local chain auto parts place; you can tell that this is the case if you see two little holes on each side of the radio face. these two images will give you an idea of how the DIN radios come out: an aftermarket unit may mount differently, photos would be helpful! andré
bergxu
Thanks André, it has the original Peugeot-labeled radio. I'll have a peek at the faceplate and look for the two release holes on each side. If it has those, I believe I actually have a pair of those tools. Thanks, and I'll report back. bill
On all of mine, there wasn't anything holding it. Remove the rectangular trim piece in front carefully, grab the radio on each side and pull. It should just pop right out. Bill
bergxu
Bill, That's the case with mine. While sitting in the drive thru lane at the bank yesterday, I happened to reach down and work the radio out and viola out it came after the trim was removed from the perimeter of the head unit. Now, I can't seem to find the code card so I hope I'll be able to have the radio fixed without that.
