  1. Rabin, From what I've seen, the shaft will engage the pinion in any position, but I'll try the lock to lock centering method and see how I get on. Thanks for the referrals on the parts, Brian Holm is impossible to get ahold of so I'll try Rock Auto first.
  2. Except what about the turn signal canceling? I was hoping to avoid removing the steering wheel so as not to throw off that aspect.
  3. Thanks Rabin, Is there a diagnostic procedure in the manual for checking the bypass valve?
  4. What pressure is the FPR supposed to be on this engine? Mine was leaking and ever since replacement (using a Bosch 2.5bar brand new one), the cold idle is lumpy but once fully warm, is smooth as glass. Just wondering if I have the wrong regulator in there. I did input the original Peugeot part number into a Google search which is how I came about the part I ordered. NP: could any damage to the injectors have been done by my running the car without the vacuum line connected to the intake manifold from the FPR? Obviously, that meant it was running at max fuel pressure so I'm unsure if that would have any ill effects. I didn't run the car for long with the vacuum/bleed line disconnected but did run it log enough to get home 20 miles. I routed the vac line from the FPR down the wheel well so it would dump the excess fuel overboard instead of flooding the intake.
  5. Rabin, No, no leaks from the rack but one of the gaiters is shot so I would like to pull the rack assembly down to replace it and check over everything
  6. Gents, Does anyone know if there is any way to center the steering rack on a 505 turbo (i.e. lock it into a center position) in order to remove for overhaul? On the old steering boxes on Mercedes, there was a special tool, a pin, which you inserted and which engaged into a notch on the pinion inside the box. Just wondering if the Pugs have anything similar.
  7. Can anyone advise as to the location of both of these harness connectors? Are they underhood or behind the glovebox?
  8. Rabin et al, Just a follow up; as I suspected, the NTC sensor was the culprit. New one installed and she's starting right up without problem. Also installed my Euro headlamps today so now I can actually see well at night.
  9. Excellent! Thanks for the reply. I've found the specs I need on the 505INFO site and downloaded them. I'll let you know in the event I get hung up anywhere.
  10. Gents, Can anyone advise on the values I'm looking for when testing the NTC sensor? All of a sudden, my '89 505 turbo is giving very rich (and hence difficult) starting--both hot and cold. Totally came out of the blue, so I'm putting my money on that having gone AWOL. Also, I assume it's just a Bosch part, so can anyone advise on where to obtain a replacement in the event I do need one?
  11. Figured out what it was; the TPS microswitch was sticky. I cleaned it with Würth Contact ÖL and readjusted it and all is well now.
