'89 505 turbo gas fuel smell while driving

welcome!

on the US/Canadian cars, the fuel tank is behind a panel in the rear of the trunk (i.e., towards the passenger compartment). the vent lines that rabin is talking about are on the right side and the lines going to the fuel pump, engine, etc. are on the left side. there are a number of soft lines in there, so if any of them are loose or cracked, that would account for the fuel smell, since air from the trunk is free to intermingle with air from the cabin. if you pull the panel and get a strong fuel smell, you'll know you're on to something.

please, tell us more about your car, where you are, etc. :)
