  1. Another West coast meet needs to happen next summer for sure. I say think of the meet not happening this summer as all the more reason for you to come out next year. It's also pretty crazy for me to see the North American Peugeot community grow into what it is today...totally dwarfs what it was in the mid 2000's. I really do think that our cars are actually crossing the verge of collectibility and coolness. *A lot* of people give me comments on the car whenever I take it out. I love remembering high school (or whatever I remember of that blur) and the Peugeot being such a big part of it. Between lunch break runs in it bottomed out with friends and music playing, driving chicks up to the panoramic views up above the SF Bay hills, and me recklessly hooning it around paved or unpaved back-roads .... we've been through a lot, and I just don't see myself giving it up anytime soon. Here's my recap of today (9/1): Today saw a solid amount of work. The day started with a run for coffee and then it was straight to work. Took quite a few many "breaks" out of the work, went to Berkeley and got distracted lol. But then I came back and got quite a bit accomplished. Slowly (maybe quickly), but surely - it's starting to take shape! Also a few friends came by my house and were surprised to see that: a) I still had a the Peugeot and it "didn't look like shit anymore". A few brews were cracked, but overall today I completed the installation of the following: -front grille -headlight surrounds -front bumper extension -rear center line trim -rear bumper -reinstall on right bumper shock -license plate lights -hood cowl vent -windshield washer nozzle -windshield wipers -rear spoiler -trunk lid emblems -trunk carpeting All that is left to install on the exterior shall be taken care of tomorrow. That consists of: -front bumper -front aero spoiler -front parking lights -bosch pilot driving lights (also need to mend wires which torn in a 2009 accident lol) -trunk keyhole and lock -trunk latch LAST will be the installation of: -sunroof casette -sunroof cassette gasket -sunroof cable Here are some photos from today's work. 2. Thank you Rabin! It really feels nice to hear from fellow enthusiasts who can truly appreciate the car for everything it is. Without the community that you keep going, I wouldn't have learned nearly as much about this fantastic car, and developed such a taste for them as well. I remember when I joined - think I was 14 years old (?), and dreamed of installing chrome "spinners" on the car, and swapping to a turbocharged V6 (lol what?). It was people like you who helped me develop a "real taste" in automobiles, and for that I thank you dearly!
  3. In case you guys missed the recent activity on the FB group, or actually bought into my horrible sense of humor (sigh) - I do indeed still have the Peugeot. Picked it up from the paint shop this morning and got straight to work. When I picked it up from my friend, the paint guy, I was surprised to see that he had gone above and beyond what I had expected. Car got a two-stage urethane with clear on top. Don't bother asking me how much I paid for it, as I got a very "unrealistic" price for the market. Body work that was done consisted of; pulling all of the pesky dents, and cutting/welding quite a bit of rust that was around the front windshield frame and cowl. My STI also received new window gaskets, undercoating in all fender-wells, and thick black coating on the rockers. The fuel-filler door, front air dam, rear spoiler, sunroof cassette, rear plate-panel, front and rear windshield were removed and painted induviudally, respectively. I took care of the front and rear bumpers, side moldings (still on the hunt for the damn chrome striping ), grille, cowl cover, C-pillar vents, and much more but I'm tired and can't remember at the moment . There is still A LOT to be reinstalled on the car tomorrow so I'll be getting up bright and early to a large cup of Peet's and getting back to work. I'm headed back to San Diego next Saturday so I have 6 days to get 'er done, and buy a nice car-cover. Car can't come with me so the next time I'll be seeing it will be in the rainy season. I'll leave you all with some quick photos from tonight. 4. Great story. Vic, Mulholland is one of my favorites. We need to go dice up there sometime. And by "dice", I mean try to chase you in my little E30
  5. IIRC, Ukit had one or more (?) 405's at his shop. Perhaps he'd be willing to grab the parts off of it, or he'd have the parts in stock.
  6. Sorry to hear about your grandmother Andre. But happy to hear she had lived a long life. It's how we felt when my grandfather passed last year, he had developed severe dementia, and it's painful to watch my other grandfather following suit. I've been pretty AWOL for the last few weeks. Have had my hands tied. Miss my Peugeot. Here's what I've been doing with my time instead: Finished the fitment on my E30. Next up are some stiffer springs (h&r race) as the eibachs are WAY too soft for the change in wheel/tire size. I've rendered my rear seats useless - which is pretty ridiculous having a four door. Here are some photos. I'm headed back to San Diego on the 7th next Saturday, so I'm scrambling to finish some projects at home. 7. Can you by chance please e-mail me the info on how you did that? My buddy in Oakland with a m3 swapped e30 Bimmer is dying to do the same thing. (He actually owns a DSM too) He's failed in front of the Alameda county state ref TWICE now. Let me know! Cheers, Sina
  8. Yo - I think you MAY be able to avoid the smog crap if you have it registered in Placer county, or if not, just buy a house on NV side of Lake tahoe!
  9. Savo, You may already be able to bring the car over, if it was built in late 1988.. Otherwise, just wait a year, and you can bring the thing over, no problem.. But keep in mind, you're going to have to de-tune it a lil' bit to get it ref'd and passed through CA smog. Sina
  10. Visit our Peugeot North America Facebook group. People list cars for sale from time to time. I know of a nice white Turbo GL Sedan for sale in SoCal right now, if you're interested.
  11. Most definitely Rabin. I was starting to feel a little bummed today when I realized that I've been starting to sell a lot of my old stuff, like downhill bikes, etc.. to pay for my car habit. The Peugeot's paint/body is going to cost me a lot, and on top of that, I keep finding things that I need to fix on the E30. #peugeot505life #e30life #broke <_<
  12. Freshh tires for the style 5's. Went to install them last night but ran into a few issues: First off, my front adapters are kaput. Total shit. I thought I over-torqued one of them, but it was already junk. No communication with the seller, but that's sorta my fault, due to the fact that I ordered them almost seven months ago, had them shipped to my aunt's house, where my car was sitting while I was at school. So I've ordered a very high-quality pair of studded 18mm adapters from 8380 labs - however one of the custom bolts is back-ordered till next Friday. Next, my fenders weren't rolled. On my way out of the shop, I got maaaad rub - so I turned around, and we ghetto-rolled the rears with the the handle of their shop floor jack. Still got a a bunch of lip I can roll, so I'll be getting them properly rolled by another e30 enthusiast's machine. Also I need to do something about my soft spring rates. I think I'm going to upgrade from the wack Eibach's I have, to something like H&R's. It's gonna drive me nuts eventually. Sina
  13. BTW - I approve of returning the car to red ... but I'm a bit partial.
  14. Wow - what a blast from the past. I remember this, I must have been 14 or 15 years old at the time. Do you have a Facebook? I suggest joining the "Peugeot of North America" group, formerly called the "Peugeot 505 of north america" group, but we changed it do be more inclusive to all Peugeot owners in the usa, canada, etc.. The community is definitely making a come back. Glad to see you still have this car, your red 505 turbo with the BMW (?) rear bumper was my wallpaper when I was in grade school. I too, took a few year hiatus from Peugeots, bought a BMW e30, and went to college (still got 2 years left).... But now, I'm making major progress on the car after so many years. Best, Sina
  15. Super busy last few days. Drove down in the Volvo to San Diego a few days ago on Sunday...just got back. 1200 miles round-trip without any hiccups. Found a house, landed an internship for the school year, and signing the lease for the new pad tomorrow Can't wait to go and get my new tires mounted/balanced. Here is a photo from last week's test fit at my friend Dimitry's race team's shop....happy that I ordered new tires lol. They race a few E30's for the LeMons team called "Jaywatch".
  16. merci. it was actually supposed to be in the shop 3 weeks ago but the guy who's doing it is super chill, and has been cool with me taking the extra time. it's pretty much done and ready though - i've just been in san diego for the last few days looking for a house. spacers, 18mm front, 20mm rear. however, i've studied the conversion pretty well, and have decided to use 318ti bits in the rear (like koll's car) and e30 m3 fronts. haven't driven on it myself, as the tires are on order.
  17. Got a lot accomplished this past week. Now all that's left is the really easy part - removing the side mirrors, door pulls, and driver/passenger door keyholes. Sunroof is out at last! I can sense the countdown to it being towed to the shop coming on. Also got some 16x8 squared BBS style 5's for my E30! But the tires were too big. Nothing a fresh set of 205/45-16's cannot solve. On order. http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9342045912/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9342045912/'>Show me your "angry at french engineering" face by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9339264203/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9339264203/'>Sunroof out...easy part left: removing door pulls and keyholes by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9339265321/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9339265321/'>Sunroof out! by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9342046832/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9342046832/'>New 16"x8" BBS Style 5's for the E30 by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9339260919/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9339260919/'>Team Jaywatch Headquarters by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9339262059/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9339262059/'>Tires were too big so ordered 4 fresh 205/45-16's! by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9339263153/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9339263153/'>D-forces on loan from Team Jaywatch by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr Cheers ~Sina
  18. Went and picked up (4) square 16x8 BBS Style 5 wheels with some nice Hankooks today. Got em' for a steal. Gonna have loads of grip on the E30 now! But I've been soo busy also trying to sell a Camry that I haven't had time to remove the damn sunroof off the Peugeot. I told my paint guy I'll have it in by Friday...but it'll probably end up being more like this Saturday. Sina
  19. Thanks for le tip. I shall heed to your advice. In regards to the pinstripe, I love it too. The original pinstrip on the car I believe was grey, but I think the tan looks good so I'll have to take it in to get striped before summer's end.
  20. @ Rabin - why settle for the 405 when you can get the 205GTi in your neck of the woods
  21. Hmm that's very interesting Andre. I definitely did not know that. I was planning on doing the pin-stripe right away, as well as the protection on the corners of the rear quarters. My paint guy is a great guy, who's part of the local E30 community, and had a BBQ this weekend, so we were able to talk about some of the specifics. We'll be doing the full respray with various 'big pieces' off of the car, getting sprayed induvidually. Namely, the front and rear spoilers, the trunk lid, and the sunroof. We will be also doing the edges of the rear jambs. I know some of you guys would gut the entire car, but this project is on a budget, and the finish on certain parts like the front jambs are in pretty good nick as is - or could be revived a bit. Basically, anywhere that was poorly resprayed by Maaco 15 years ago is a problem area. They did a very cheap job, and as most can tell, there is no clear on the car atm. While my paint guy manages a Maaco, he does all of the work for guys like me in the Bay area Bimmer community independently out the back, which is why I can even afford this whole thing. The car also will be probably receiving the undercoat in the fender wells after the rest of the paint. This is because I may have not mentioned it, but several weeks ago, my friend and I spotted a foreign rust hole in the rear driver's side fender. It's only the size of a nickel, but it means that we'll be having to sand it, cut, and weld a new piece in its place. It's sorta sketch, but very minimal. Today's task will revolve around removing the headliner and sunroof, as well as getting the mirrors, headlight surrounds, keyholes, and door pulls.
  22. No problem Jeff! The car will probably won't be back for another two weeks. By the way...I found a little blue rear headrest hole ring that belongs to you and Collin. Haha and yes, except that one is paid for by the H.O.A. Think it's worth trying to petition them to pay for the paint job? Sina
