  1. Right on! I'm trying to convince my parents to replace their 02' XC70 with its *second* transmission on its way out with a P2 V70R 6spd. Those things are beautiful, and drive soooo much better than the fwd or early p2 xc70s. I say keep the p2 over the x70! Is this brother different than Arun? If so, quite jealous of your guys' little Peugeot family... In other news - headed back home tomorrow afternoon for the first time in 3 months. Look forward to installing the sunroof cassette, and new cable. Also, plan on finishing up the body mouldings...but if I don't end up getting to it this week, its OK, cause I'll be back for x-mas break in another 2 weeks after finals. Sina
  2. While I'd normally be a big critic of this, I must stop myself from saying "boo" or "oh no, Dongfeng isn't French, so it must be bad..". To support this, I'd look at Tata (who as you probably know oversees Jag and Landy) or Geely, which does the same with Volvo. I was initially disenchanted with the news of both take overs several years back, but looking back over the last few years of their respective ownerships, they've been doing a little better. Volvo's are certainly become more popular again (at least where I live) - and IMO - the new Jag's are drop-dead gorgeous. Plus they've been doing better in reliability. S
  3. Next summer at the soonest. This super busy quarter has kept my car-time at an all time low...sooooo many things I need to fix on the E30 but no time. Headed home though in a week and half for thanksgiving break (huh?) and gonna be putting in a solid work day into the Peugeot. Gonna get my dad, mom, and sister to all hopefully lend a hand in the garage so work goes by quickly.
  4. Worth the price in my opinion - I'm personally one who advocates for appreciation in the prices of our cars. The paint and crack-free dash alone make the car super desireable. Best of luck with sale! -Sina
  5. Fantastic coverage Andre! Hope you're feeling better too. A few observations I made based on your photos: the green 405 used to belong to that dude in San Fran - his car was the one featured in Automobile magazine, and I had seen it before in person in SF - looked flawless. one of those traction avants (or maybe more) has to be from my hometown of Alameda up north... there's a big-time Citroen O.G who lives on a main-street down from my high school, and I'd have a hard time believing that at least one of those rare Californian beauties isn't his! One of those white R5 Turbo 2's is from right here in La Jolla. I was out for a date a few weekends ago in the Cove (super nice neighborhood) and it was parked in front of the restaurant. Definitely a true time-capsule of pure 80s steeze. also, damn jealous that I missed out on the show! looked like tons of fun. Sina
  6. Haha I was thinking about adding the BBS center caps too, but I decided not to - only because I'm [very] passively working on a set of new & very sought-after wheels to really set off the car (think e34 m5 ) ... and I'd rather divert the money to help refurbish those. I'm starting to like these 16" style 5's though - definitely better looking than the 14" bbs weaves that came on the E30 iS models.. The E30 m3 is definitely one of my dream cars...and all the more motivation to get my degree. Gotta love the cars you see on the roads here in SoCal. Santa Monica is beautiful. If I had to live in the LA area, it would mos def be in the Santa Monica area. I don't really plan on ever bringing the 505 down to San Diego, but only beacuse I know it'd get thrashed if I did. With the way things are this fall (a full academic scheudle of classes, 18 hrs/week for the crew team, and 12 hrs/week for work), the e30 is *really* taking a beating, and I'd be way too scared to do it in the newly revived Peugeot. I definitely plan on bringing it down for some good times though, maybe next summer, or at the very end of the school year next June, to flaunt it around PB and La jolla with the sunroof back . http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/10720052633/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/10720052633/'>Rouge Amaryllis by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/10719774715/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/10719774715/'>Rouge Amaryllis by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/10719852364/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/10719852364/'>Rouge Amaryllis by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr
  7. literally pulled out my phone and has a few seconds to snap it, but unfortunately, I was/am pretty new to the iPhone 5, and fumbled for a minute while it got away.
  8. Thanks. And...Wow! You have one of my dream cars (E93). Have you happened to see that one blue one out of Maryland with the full m bodywork & drivetrain swap? It looks simply killer on LM's... As we've already gotten a little off-topic, here are a few recent shots of my E30.. 9. just 10 minutes ago driving back to my house from campus spotted a pink renault convertible...a quick wiki search yielded that it was 2nd gen Megane cabriolet
  10. and another cool car i spotted over a month ago. coincdendatlly, also an audi. this one's a model we never got - a 2-door former-gen s3. http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/10059171355/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/10059171355/'>Mexican S3 by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr
  11. everyday, i park my car in the free dirt lot next to the cliffs..very picturesque setting in la jolla behind my school, univ. of california, san diego. there are a variety of cool cars to see there everyday. lately, i have been parking next to an audi TT belonging to a french exchange student. the car is a real euro-spec audi TT, imported only a few months ago. no us-compliance stuff whatsoever - kmh dash, french plates, no permits, etc.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/10200423384/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/10200423384/'>A long way from home by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/10200515996/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/10200515996/'>Audi TT all the way from France in California by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr
  12. Just booked my trip back home up north for thanksgiving. Hoping to spend a little time that week to take care of some Peugeot-related business. Here's what I'm shooting to accomplish: Run by the local body shop that has the correct chrome striping to finish off the side molding, and install them around the car Wire up side markers Replace the sunroof cable Install the Sunroof cassette seal Wrap up the sunroof thang Get the vinyl paint protection done up on the rear quarter panel below the spoiler Run by my relatives' house and pick up my new car cover so it can go back outside during the rainy season Crazy to think it's already been over 5 weeks since I last saw the car. What's even crazier is my scheudle this fall quarter (until Winter holiday). Interning 8-10 hrs/week, training with my crew team 18 hrs/week, school 5 days/week, and fun-time during Saturdays so I don't loose my mind (completely). Needless to say, the trip back home to see the family, old friends, and drive the Peugeot are going to be quite the reward. Cheers, Sina
  13. Lusting over some Series One Euro Aero bumpers
  14. If this is the one on CL with the mentioned issues, I say this is a reasonable offer. Even though I've dumped several thousands into mine over the past few years, I know that I'd never recoup a fraction of that...it's all about the love for the car. That being said, part of the beauty of these cars is their affordability and durability. Hope you can snag it Savo!
  15. that's a good idea. i need to address similar electrical/lighting faults on mine next time I'm home.. BTW - a friend of mine is getting close to pulling the trigger on a 505 td of some sorts.. however, his plan is to toss the engine, and swap in something crazy and totally out of line with CA's smog laws... hence why he's getting a diesel which is smog-exempt
  16. Embarrassingly enough, afraid not. My BMW coughed up some electrical problems in the few days before I left. Unfortunately, that became my focus before I left, and sure enough the sunroof was out of the equation. In the meantime, I'm trying to remotely help my dad with the installation. He'd probably love some extra hands though in getting it installed. I also decided on reinstalling the side molding after a nervewracking trip to the shopping center or two before I left - cringed at some people almost clipping their door on the car. Thank you! It feels great to have my pride and joy appreciated.
  17. LOL how about a good "friday the 13th post"? Went down to the beach around noon. the waves weren't very good, but still managed to catch a few sets. After a good hour or so out, I was coming in for a quick break and as I hopped of my board POP! Got stung by a stingray. The first hour and half was some of the worst paint I've ever felt, due to the initial shock and venom release. My buddy drove my car home for me though, and I've been chilling with my foot in buckets of hot water letting it bleed and the venom out. Looks like I'll be limping at the sorority parties this weekend
  18. What will it take for you to use commas and period man. Look forward to seeing what you do with this, I like 405 wagons - plus they're super rare. Have you considered an Mi-16 styling conversion? I think it'd look cool with a nice respray.
  19. Found the problem! One of the fuses behind the h.u. in the circuit was loose. Furthermore, I had an identical problem to my BMW with its aftermarket unit in which the illumination/ground wire was causing a short and blowing out the fuse for the dash & instrument lights. Fixed that while I was at it too. Spent the greater majority of my evening (procrastination) getting the Bimmer ready for the drive back to school, that I'll be embarking on early tomorrow morning. Will say my goodbyes to the Pug tomorrow morning until I see it again in December!
  20. Sounds like a deal to me! Let's for sure discuss that when I'm back for winter break. Also need to find the package Salman sent me, which is lost in my parents' garage aka the jungle.
  21. Thanks again guys. Rabin, I'm not the biggest fan of the blacked out surrounds for the quads. However, I did refinish the silver and the black on the edges the surrounds. That is only temporary though, as I plan on mounting my Euro lamps this winter when I'm back home. I have some perfect selective yellow French bulbs that I am very eager to fit on those BTW went and paid a visit to my local Peugeot mechanic/family friend to wish him a happy rosh hashanah and show him the car. He came out with a NIB rear quarter (with chrome inlay) trim for the car...but only had that piece. Cannot wait to refinish mine with the chrome this winter as well. Sina
  22. Dave you make a good case in regards to installing the molding back on. I must concur that with their raised rubberized surface, they do certainly protect the rest of the paint on the doors, say on a vertical surface area, were the door to get hit. I do plan on reinstalling the trim at some point - but they currently don't look good enough for me to install. I'm going to see if I can locate a proper chrome striping type trim to restore my own with - and if I cant, then I'll need to track down a new set. In other news: I was listening to my 505's stereo while wrenching the other day. Sure enough, I drained the battery (lolz). When I jumped the car using one of those mobile-start battery boxes they sell at Costco, the stereo suddenly stopped working. Fuse is okay, and so is the wiring behind the head unit itself. I'm puzzled. Just when I was planning on grabbing my shades and going for a ride with the top back Any ideas as to what I could have done?
  23. Thank you Dave! Re: side markers, I mocked one up on the rear yesterday. Think I'll be okay with them protruding for now w/o the molding. I think long-term, I will have to refit the molding, but lets just say I'm not going to rush into it since mine still need a lot of work. I'll also be passively looking for a nice set (maybe from a Euro spec) online, and if I do locate one, I may just go ahead and cop a euro style set.
  24. And one last "money shot" http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9663375856/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9663375856/'>Comes with glass of Shiraz by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr
  25. After 3 hard days of carefully putting her back together again with a new smile, here she is in all (or most) of her glory. I took it to several familiar spots. First, the house where it has lived since 1985; the house where it was photographed in front of at my parents' wedding; and back around the iconic San Francisco Bay Trail which runs through my backyard on the island. I think it really hit me after I finished the day's work this evening with the front fascia all back together (minus the fog lights which are lost in the jungle, otherwise known as my parents' garage). But I'm really content with the car's look at this point. I'm going to keep the car's side clean with no side molding in order to preserve the natural Italian Pinninfarina lines ... or at least until I get tired of it. Well, what is there left to do for now? Install the sunroof with its gasket Install the sunroof cable Find some Bosch Pilot fog-lamps with amber lenses (won't likely be installed until December when I come home again) Carefully paint the lion on the engine grille silver with a brush Install the side markers (no side molding baby!) ...and that's about it. I cannot thank the Peugeot community enough for all the help and inspiration that has been imparted onto me throughout this long and beautiful ride. Please enjoy the photos from this evening - I know I will, as I go back to school for the fall and won't be around the car until the wintertime Cheers, Sina http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9659827037/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9659827037/'>9/2: Fitting le bumper by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9663059862/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9663059862/'>9/2: [overly stoked] man & his machine by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9659831307/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9659831307/'>9/2: Pinninfarina's best by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9659834703/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9659834703/'>9/2: Mhmm by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9659838343/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9659838343/'>9/2: Back to Del Mar Avenue for old times sake by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9659842007/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9659842007/'>9/2 SF Sunset by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9659845143/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9659845143/'>9/2: Finished Rear by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9659847371/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9659847371/'>9/2: Afront the Bay Trail by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9659850219/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/norcal505/9659850219/'>9/2: Red car meet red sky by http://www.flickr.com/people/norcal505/'>sina.pour, on Flickr
