  1. Just wanted to clarify - as nice as the V70R is - it's still a fat family car that isn't nearly as fun to drive at the limit as the 505 turbo... It also doesn't even come close when the road gets rough - BUT the seats are on par with the Peugeot seats - they're DAMN comfy! So it's the perfect family hauler - but it won't / can't replace the 505 Turbo for pure enjoyment... Rabin
  2. Thanks Justin, I LOVE my R! That being said - I live in an area with very harsh weather in the winter so the AWD is a must, and at the time I bought this car - the 04+ V70R's were way out of my price range and the Subaru wagons just weren't in the same league as this car... If you don't need the AWD - then the 01 T5 is probably the way to go as the Haldex system can be "delicate" in the 98 - 00' V70R's... If you want the AWD though - go for the 00' as it has the newer engine, and the 5sp tranny... My car is stupid fast - and handles AWESOME for a wagon. It's also a colour that was never offered in the states, and is uber rare up here as well... As for your brake upgrade - go with turbo rotors and use the turbo calipers off a wrecked 505 Turbo for a nice upgrade... Not sure if you need the hubs as well - but the turbo hubs are beefier with a thicker wheel flange. Rabin
  3. I'm 99% sure they are as well... Best way would be to call a shop and see if the same part number comes up... Rabin
  4. Not a whole lot - car is pretty well done as a "hot rod" stock - so it's exceptionally capable right out of the box. Only things done so far were some refinished 17" BBS Propus C wheels, and I switched ALL the lubricants used in the car to synthetics... (AMSOIL engine and tranny, Redline for the x-fer case and the diff.) Also had a paint renewal system done on it and the paint looks new now... Only thing on the list now is to install a Hertz 8" sub and amp into the spare tire space... I did up some nice pics recently, Rabin
  5. Nissan T-stat info Voila... Rabin
  6. Hey guys, Found this sale last night and bought a set for the 00' V70R... Didn't need them - but at that price you can't go wrong. KVR Performance They've got listings for Peugeot's too - just not for the 505 ABS equipped cars... Rabin
  7. I HIGHLY recommend the Nissan OEM t-stat for the 505 Turbo's... If the stat doesn't fix it it's likely a clogged heater core that might be resolved with being flushed out... Apparently Mercedes has a good cooling system flush - but I've always just reverse flushed with clean water and never have run into a clogged heater core... Rabin
  8. Hey Rob, If you can sell the 505 for decent money then do so and get a minty 505 Turbo or V6 car and you'd be a MUCH happier guy with more money in your pocket. If you want easy, and mainstream, less refined, and less money in your pocket - get the Volvo turbo. Personally I enjoy marching to a different beat, which is why I love the Peugeot. That and a 505 Turbo is a FAR superior car out of the box than the Volvo's. Granted - the Volvo has a great aftermarket - but with some work, engenuity, and the same money investment and the 505 should still kill it. I'd suggest the V6 5-sp though - they are a wicked fun, great power all over (but not as much as the turbo) but they FEEL faster since the power comes in low down... Find a decent minty one and you're laughing. Rabin
  9. You need to post pictures I think for this thread to be of any use... (Picture is worth a 1000 words and all that...) That way you can reference the issue and the guys with N9TEA cars will know exactly what you're refering too. Rabin
  10. I read some of the posts... Surprising about the hate some people have for these cars... I wanted to post how the car's bad reputation had more to do with idiot owners and crappy servicing than the cars themselves - which are still ahead of their time - but it seemed like a bitch to register... (Plus nothing I say will change their impression...) Every neglected car that I've bought has been dead reliable - and I drive them HARD... Rabin
  11. What?! No pics of deuce? Great news Victor - hopefully they do an artcle on both! Keep us posted... Rabin
  12. Welcome to the forum! So is the car a turbo? I'm guessing no - but it wasn't clear. (I've taken the rear spoiler off my last one - it was neat having the sleeper look...) As for the low brake fluid - only way it goes down is if it's leaking - and my money is on the clutch master. Check inside where the clutch rod goes in and I bet it's wet. So any more details? (Colour? mileage? pictures?) FANTASTIC buy for $200! I bought a car for $400 once with the same issue - but the guy refused to believe me - said the clutch forks were gone... Bought it and it ran AWESOME after changing the clutch cylinder... It's kinda funny when you think people spend more on shoes or jeans than a fully function car that drives awesome! Rabin
  13. Very NICE! So with the stroker kit - what's the displacement at now? 250 naturally aspirated FWHP is awesome - that engine should sound amazing at full chat... Rabin
  14. Choosing the proper turbo made easy! Rabin
  15. I went with an OEM Nissan T-stat that crossed over to the Peugeot one from a jobber catalogue. Car immediately had a much more stable temp with it in... (search this site and you should find the part # in one of my posts...) So make sure to ensure the whole system is up to snuff - but I highly recommend the Nissan T-Stat over any of the other ones. It's built really well... Rabin
  16. 6-bolt wheels were on the Toyota and Nissan trucks, as well as some GM 1/2 ton trucks. It's very popular bolt pattern - but they don't have proper wheel offsets that I could find, nor did they have any decent looking / weighing wheels for a car. I used to have an old Subie - and it was shocking how some guys were re-drilling hubs! I could never do it like they did... Rabin
  17. Cool! If the outside diameter is bigger, then the rods can just be machined to accept them - common practice when an engine spins a bearing... I'll have to track down a set now... If that takes care of the rod bearings, then all we need is a replacement for the main bearings, and the engine should be rebuildable without too much trouble. Tama - can you advise what part number the 505 Gasket was? I downloaded their catalog - but no listing for the N9TE was listed. It'd be a nice start - and I like the idea of a modern gasket like that rather than using a copper one now... Thanks! Rabin
  18. Would you mind checking into a set for me? Don't need the lights themselves, but I'd need everything to mount the units to the header panel at the front... Even the hardware if possible... Hope you find a set of euro's - they're awesome. Ideally I'd like to find a set of the biode euro lamps - then I'd sell you mine... Rabin
  19. So... If the Saab rods fit the crank (I think that's what you're saying) - can we not use the Saab bearings for our rods? Is there a reason for using the Saab rods over the Peugeot ones? I thought the Peugeot ones were nice sturdy forged units that should be plenty strong enough for decent power. BTW: What model Saab engine are the rods from? Thanks for the info guys! Rabin
  20. Rob - there was a red 505 Turbo with the rear spoiler intact in your pics - would that not work for you - or was it not in good shape? Can't make it out in the pics if the same car had the turbo front spoiler too - but it'd save you a whack of grief in the long run... I'd suggest getting the whole deck lid actually - there's like 20 bolts holding the thing on! Rabin
  21. Yep - on the early US Spec cars till 83' they had the quad round 5 3/4" lights... I'd love to get a hold of a set if any of you find some usable ones in a wrecking yard somewhere... My intention is to mod them to take the 7" round outer lights... Course I now have a set of 4 hella projector assemblies to play with... Easy to fit to the 504 - but I want to see if I can do up a cool set up on the 505 Turbo instead... Rabin
  22. That looks like a great head gasket! Details and cost would be appreciated as it looks like it's a really well designed gasket. Those rings must bite nice and give a good seal - so I'm guessing boost potential is REALLY quite high with something like that... Engine - When you talk of lowering the piston - was there enough room to just machine the Saab pin into the Volvo piston to adjust the height? Thanks for the details too - very good info indeed. Can't wait to hear more once you get it done! Rabin
  23. Tama - the car looks fantastic! Good luck on the engine rebuild. You'll have to post details on the pistons and rods, as well as details for the wheels please... I've looked at using Ford 2.3 turbo pistons in my rebuild, and have a set to use, but it'd be nice to document other ways guys are rebuilding engines too - for future reference. Car also has a great stance so I'm curious what you did for suspension, and what wheel and tire size you are using... Rabin
  24. Damn - that's too bad! Importing to Canada would be easy, just shipping it here would be the biggest issue. Other than that it just has to pass a safety inspection to ensure it was mechanically sounds and not have any rust issues. It's tempting for sure - and I would pursue it if it had a XD3T intercooled diesel in it, but the wife would go for a gas 505 wagon... (We're both interested in getting / building a grease (waste veggie oil) car). I'd mention this on the Peugeot-L list - and maybe the aussiefrogs forum... Good luck with the sale - although I hope you're finances turn around instead! Rabin
  25. DAMN! A 504 Cabriolet... Nice. Any idea if it was a V6 5-sp? One of the cars VERY high on my dream Peugeot list... Looks like a decent source for parts - other than the air flow meter tube that is... Victor - Did you get that fixed with an OEM replacement or are you going to fab one up? Personally - I'd either fab it or look for something similar from another make. Rabin
