  1. that becker looks like it BELONGS in the 505, nice piece andre! i had the same notion about latemodel bmw decks (and the old 90s blaupunkt decks, before they used bright colors and lighting)

    Lemons racing

so i joined a team near me - they (we, heh) run an old 4wd civic wagovan, and another topsecret car that i'll post here when its "officially" unveiled... and that 5spd xn6 505 that i was gonna get some parts off - well, i told the team and one of the guys is gonna get it and either use it for another lemons racer or a BABE rally car.... whatever happens with the 505, i'll snap pics and post updates here!
  3. i think at some point i did daydream about swapping her to a stick, but scratch that. only swap i'd consider is moving up to a 4speed auto from my 3. I think also i'd consider an entire drivetrain swap (sr20, gm ecotec, and their respective transmissions) before i'd consider just a peugeot trans swap)
  4. http://newjersey.craigslist.org/cto/2807281351.html i have a 505 classic peugeot turbo diesel for sale in cream color, im the second owner and it has 92,000 orig.miles wich is nothing for this car . it has second fuel tank for traveling long distance . org california car .it has a crack on the front wind shield that i am currently trying to replace b4 i can sell but if i cant find it i will drop $200 from price . here is a video i made a few years back of the car .its a great car i just travel to much right now so i need to get rid of it $3,200 and the vid link is - http://vimeo.com/10913601 also found this wagon for sale http://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/cto/2855644976.html
  5. now i realize, dunno what i was thinking about the shifter bezel for, since its a stick parts car...anyway thanks for the parts list, bryan - i had some of what you listed on my list already, but where do i look for the relays? theyre somewhere near the fusebox right? or are they in there with the fuses? and thanks for the info about the fenders, aryun. kinda bummed about that, i wish it was an all bolts affair, a free fender would be great. i think i'll at least attempt to remove it, but im not gonna have my heart set on leaving with it if i cant get the glue cut off (forget using a dremel, it would probably just heat it up and get the gooey mess all over my wheel/dremel wouldnt it) im also gonna get the seat belt receiving ends from the front seats, as mine sometimes stick/refuse to hold once in a while. and if i get those off, im wondering if should try and take the front seats as well heh
  6. o lord, none of that is good news for me lol. but thanks for the info! i need to take the time to navigate the 505.fr site more, but the times i have attempted, im low on patience after getting home from work... and ugh. my interest in my 505 goes up and goes down in cycles (i really want to "start over" with a turbo 5spd) but the gf wants to keep the car. i found a PRISTINE volvo 850R maybe 2 weeks ago (while still looking for a wagon for my folks haha - thanks bean for the volvo info!) and it was actually veto'd by my lady. This, from a woman who fought tooth and nail with me to get an a4, jetta, volvo, bmw, and the like before i bought the pug for a fraction of those cars' costs. she's been sad for a while about the fender getting hit. i have to see what i can find in my parents basement. if i can find their heat gun (or a serious blowdryer) and some cutting wheels for the dremel/drill....i may be a fool real 505 enthusiast and go about extracting this fender in 30degree weather....even i still get a lil miffed when i see the crumpled fender these days (i thought i'd get over it and just say to myself "well, shes my city car" but it kills me) im going to go next weekend to attack this parts car. so it may be 40degrees out, not 30...
  7. another xn6'er and fellow lemons racer chiming in here - pleeease do a build thread with pics! hehe
  8. i replied to it on the yahoo board, but i dont see it up there... anyway, i said - thanks for representing the breed! =)
  9. hey guys so on the yahoo board, someone posted they have a 84 sti xn6 5spd, not running, and theyre putting it up for grabs (free)... im driving up to boston this weekend, and the guy is very much along the way, in CT....i would like to stop by and snap up a couple things for my pug (and am not opposed to removing anything that you guys could use too, as long as its not a huge operation to get off, and i'd just charge shipping - sorry bean! i know shipping is a sore point for ya). i figure norcal might be interested, as thats his model exactly (i have the same car, but automatic). Anyway, besides culling window switches, handles, trim, and lil bits like that, my pug could use a drivers side front fender (someone crushed mine up anonymously over the holiday season). I resigned myself to not bothering with it, but if i got the part for free, well that changes things. Anyway! so i searched the yahoo board about removing the 505 fenders - apparently theyre glued in areas?! some said to use a heat gun to soften it, then you cut it with a putty knife...i did see mention though of just using a knife, and no heat gun, and that its manageable. Well, its cold outside, and i'll be doing this quite a ways from my own home, so im wondering - for those of you that have removed the front fenders, how much of a pain was it? do you remember how many bolts, maybe even their locations? ive removed fenders on old american cars, and thats pretty straightforward - find the bolts in the obvious places, pull fender, find it hanging by one last bolt you missed, get that, and bobs your uncle. Also, anyone ever remove the shifter bezel from the automatic trans console? (thats a shot in the dark, i know. lol) Otherwise i'll just pull and pry gentle til i figure it out. thanks in advance for any help!
  10. did u see the v70 i found in the "parents want an suv" thread? i'd like that for myself, heck with my parents...hehe and i know, a reasonable person wouldnt consider any of those cars DD material, but i definitely would...or "am" actually haha. that benz wagon, man i want that!!!!
  11. oof. the goes like hell omni, one day i'll grab one....i only came across the "charger" shelby omnis in my cl search yesterday, and one turbo shadow, but nothing to write home about
  12. http://harrisonburg.craigslist.org/cto/2810365889.html http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/cto/2807764597.html http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/2797579505.html http://capecod.craigslist.org/cto/2770724699.html http://westernmass.craigslist.org/cto/2811899365.html (maybe this one not so much, but i like it, especially at that price)
  13. so T5s can be automatic and this looks good... http://baltimore.craigslist.org/cto/2785078448.html
  14. n9te - ah, with the pug, im gonna just keep her and drive her as my nyc warrior mobile unless i need to sell her later on when the camaros on the road (if i cant get a parking spot in my apt complex, im up the creek - street parking in jersey city is too much for me, u need to pay for a monthly permit). but yeah im not gonna move ahead with the other plans i had for her, unless its sometime after the camaros done (well, somewhat done, that car will never actually be done) and i have money (and time) burning a hole in my pocket to get a fender and fix the other bodywork. car wise im pretty good at hunting cars (searchtempest, etc) - im actually writing up a how-to for a car blog, my process is preeeeetty tight if i do say so myself =) yeah my subie buddy emailed me some tech stuff i gotta look at later, i forget which motor had the hgasket issues, but it is a specific one (so i can avoid it). volvo wagon sounds like the win, but thats if i find a pristine and cared-for one. or my folks may get tired of waiting, and go buy a brand new rav4....which wouldnt be so hot budget wise, but we'll see.
  15. thanks much for the pointers bean! a hunt on cl today turned up lots of car flippers and dealers posting in the private owner section but i'll keep on it. and i found one ad where they said its a T5, but also said its an automatic - will take a lil more reading to see if T5's were stick-only.
  16. T5 is the stick, isnt it? ha, if it was for me sure and seats that rival the peugeot's?! nonsense. no such thing. i need to take a look underneath them and see if i cant get them into my camaro...
  17. thanks for the suggestions guys - i think the practical answer of accord/camry wagon wont really sit with them, but if i come across a cherry example, i'll run it by them. my stepdad has always wanted a volvo, it would be his first car that could be called luxurious, but knowing im carhunting for them he's expecting me to suggest an old 240. i'll do some hunting for the v70 (i knew u, bean, had some kinda v wagon, i just didnt know the model, and figured if a rally mechanic likes the car, it must be durable). but are they known for timing belt failures/bad headgaskets or anything in particular like that? they keep tossing around the idea of an old audi a4 wagon and i keep insisting those are timebombs. i'll probably keep to fwd models for the volvo, for sake of lower repair/maint costs down the road. my folks dont need AWD, but.... they did have a jeep before and really liked being unstoppable in the snow - so the subie suggestions are good for that, but i think/can predict my folks will go "bah, another japanese appliance" at any subies i suggest, unless i find a real primo/loved example. which is tough with subies haha. something i thought of the other day too was the CRV, but i havent seen one upclose/in person to get an idea of interior space - but the main reason i thought of it is that i like the honda k20 motor - its got a timing chain! and some random pug news that i dont think i posted here yet - someone hit my front fender, crushed up my pug a bit. doesnt interfere with anything function wise, but damn - car made it nearly 30 yrs w/o incident. also, while i was mourning/yelling/looking over the damage, i noticed at some point someone hit my rear bumper, and twisted it a bit (one side hangs lower than the other).
  18. hey guys so my folks want a wagon or small suv - they have 2 beagles and tend to buy a ton when they go shopping, and for the last 2 or so years, have been doing all this with their lil 2door yaris...they rented a 2ndgen rav4 once, and really liked it, but theyre really only looking to spend around $5000 for something (2001and up rav4s seem to go for around 2grand higher than that, at least). i was thinking volvo wagons too. any suggestions?
  19. sorry andre, but could u pop those to me too? obaksh@gmail
  20. ah, thanks, but im on the xn6 4cyl heh
  21. those vids...make me want to be a better man.
