krede
So during engine assembly I have run into another issue. I have installed the pistons into the cylinders, with the arrows ,on the top of the pistons, all pointing towards the front of the engine as described in the workshop manual. However, the cap/rod numbers on the SIDE of the rod/caps on the rod/caps for cylinder 2 are facing towards the other side than on rod/caps 1,3 and 4. The number "2" on the rod/cap still line up, so I reckon that the an error has been made either in production, or that the piston has been removed or exchanged at some point and has been assembled the other way around. Is this a problem? or can the rod/caps be fitted either way around?

V-M
It maters only if there is oil cooling hole in rod. If not then it can be both ways V-M
krede
For some reason the piston has been fitted to the rod "the other way around" . But as V-M says they can be fitted either way. However the notches in the bearing caps should both be facing the oil filter side of the engine which they are obviously not. So I will fit the piston the right way around , just for the hell of it.
