  1. Nick@Nite - Do you have the spreader piece as well? Thx, John
  2. Thanks everyone, I know that the windshield is bonded in and had considered investigating a generic trim option but I figured OEM would be the simplest if it would work. Reminding me that the filler piece will most likely not survive the transplant is good though. Western Hemispheres lists stock on the windshields. Maybe the wrong tint but nothing I can do about that - these two screens are well broken. Thx, John
  3. We've got 2, '85 Turbo's (N9T) in need of front glass. From the Western Hemispheres site the rubber gasket for the North American cars is no longer available. Has anyone had success installing the European version of the part and what problems might one expect when doing this? Regards, John
  4. 405's rare - then you need to trip out to the valley ). Between three of us out here we have 4 MI16's and another 2 S's. Daily drivers most of them. The place in White Rock I think you mean is White Rock Sport and Import. He is still there but I do not believe that he was ever a dealer. I know there was a dealer in Vancouver and another in Abbotsford and one in Kelowna. I am not sure what others there may have been but these three are no longer.
  5. Welcome to the fold - nice looking car. I don't visit the site regularly but I am in Langley. Currently have an '85 N9T turbo, rust free but tatty looking in original paint with failed clear coat on upper surfaces. My wife has a '91 405 MI16. I've had a number of turbo diesels in recent memory but have been driving the N9T for about 7 or 8 years now. Regards John
  6. Well, I ordered the Cometic gasket today. I also inquired with Politecnic as to their offerings. They told me that they have Glaser but prefer to use Meillor. I don't know if the Meillor gasket that they use is the same as the one I bought previously. They suggest that my problem is not the gasket itself but possible the method used to torque. I don't know but the gasket I have certainly looks suspect if for no other reason than an inconsistency in the shape of the combustion chamber openings. I'll try and get some pictures to post for second opinions. Politecnic suggest I need to use the torque method suggested by Peugeot Sport for the 200HP engines. Does anyone know if that is just the revised procedure that has been posted around which calls for a re-torque as opposed to the procedure in my manual which does not? John
  7. Thanks Rabin, I took a look through the manual and did not find a value but I sure would appreciate a second look. John
  8. Well I think that I may try one of these if they are still available. I put a Meillor gasket in and it lasted about a year. I have not driven the car since the spring but finally got around to pulling the head yesterday. There are no obvious sings of failure but upon closer inspection it would seem that the quality of the Meillor product may have been the sole contributing factor to the failure. My question is on thickness of a new gasket. I see from Rabin's original post that I must specify the thickness I want if I order from Cometic. Did these gaskets come in varying thicknesses from Peugeot? Is the specified 0.059 the stock thickness? Thanks, John
  9. Thank you, the item has been sold.
  10. Sorry for the delay, bad memory and bad weather I quickly put it on and snapped a few http://www3.telus.net/roverlad/peugeot/ Let me know if there are futher questions. John
  11. August, I don't have pictures but I could take it out of it's box and snap a couple. I am open to offers. John
  12. I have an '85 N9T with a suspect head. It was already repaired (cracks) by the PO just prior to my ownership but it now appears to be failing again. I really don't want to get into the engine right now so I am going to try a miracle cure in a bottle but in the event that I do try and fix the motor what is the interchangeability of the heads on these N9T variants? Regards John
  13. Hi, I have what I believe to be a new or nearly new (no visible marks or signs of UV damage), factory(?), front nose bra for a North American spec 505 Turbo (pre '89). The car must still have the original front air dam to mount correctly. The item is located near Vancouver, BC., Canada. Offers? Thanks, John
  14. Could the turbo have failed/seized? Are you getting what you might think is normal flow from the tailpipe at idle? Do you have the manual in order that you can follow the troubleshooting guide?
  15. I am running Nokians on the 505 and MI16 and am very happy with them. On the 505 I run studded "1"'s and "Q"'s on the 405, neither of which is in the current N/A Nokian lineup. Without proper winter tires, especially with no extra weight in the rear I find a 505 to be a completely useless car. With good tires it is transformed into a snow machine With a snow tire narrow is better so I would recommend the narrowest you can get for your wheel size while staying close to the stock diameter. Looks like in the Nokians for a 15" rim that might be 185. I run 14's on my '85 Turbo (no ABS) with a 165 - not going for looks in the winter. You will likely get other suggestions, there are lots of good tires out there, as previously mentioned I have read good reviews on the Continental Viking. Remember that lots of the funky ice tires (no studs) run a special rubber compound that is found only on the outer most skin of the tread so after about a single season you have lost that functionality of the tire. This time of year you may have trouble getting a good selection.
  16. A couple months ago I tried to source a new pump for my '85 N9T. The pump I pulled off was 0 580 464 027. I can't seem to recall now, as that number is still good and my source had no trouble finding it in the books but anyway, I ended up with the "universal" pump, 0 580 464 069. It comes with two interchangeable pump fittings which is why it is "universal" I guess. Anyway, there are no alterations required to the car to fit the universal pump. The only disappointment was that the pump did not come with enough new copper washers to replace everything with new. I needed to reface and use one of my old ones. It turns out that this rather large expenditure on a new pump was not necessary as it was my fuel pressure regulator that was buggered not the pump . As such I have the old one I pulled from my car as well as another spare I bought from a parts car (N9TE) which was part number 0 580 464 021. Both of these used pumps work fine and if you are interested I will sell you one. I generally don't advocate used parts but I know these two work. $100-$125 CDN seemed to be the going rate around here for a used one. Make me an offer if you are interested.
