Terrible repairs done on your 405 by previous owners
my3AWDgst replied to my3AWDgst's topic in Peugeot 40x Series discussion
Switch by shift knob was to turn on A/C and the rest no clue what they were for. A/C is functioning just fine and normal the way factory design it. -

Alignment specs and rear axle bearings

Unfortunately any shop that hears words Peugeot keeps sending us away,so to do this and someone to do this would ask pretty penny. -
Alignment specs and rear axle bearings

I’d say that this is definitely (let’s not say bad design) a flaw in the design. -

I agree with Mike,I wish they made it just like MK II Golf. Now AWD rear is worsed in my opinion, more weight, more parts to brake and still camber is not adjustable. -

At that point this repair would exceed the value of the car :-( Leave it alone and live with it. -

I would not bend the rear beam as it will not be accurate repair, this may cause more problems and new out of spec alignment issues. -

To be honest I wish they designed rear suspension like MKII Golf. Way more ways to correct this issue and they use coil springs in the rear. -

I haven’t driven my 405 in stock ride height for more then one day so I can’t tell you difference before and after in camber, also my two DD 405’s are California cars so there is no needle bearing issues. -

Camer being negative,it’s not too bad but softer tires can’t last no more the 15,000 miles. -

Giving a 405 Sport Wagon another chance

Brought it home exactly 4 years ago, time does fly. I remember looking at engine bay wondering how will I ever make this bay look good. Little did I know :-) -
Beginning of this month I took it to Radwood show in L.A and noticed A/C wasn’t functioning, later on that week at home I found broken wires at A/C cluch coil. I was able to cross reference parts to Jeep models that used same A/C compressor and I found everything on Ebay for reasonable amount of money. I end up getting everything x2 just to have it in stock for next 405 I build, that way no need to wait for parts to show up.

I got these from Jürgen http://www.505turbo.com/forum/index.php?/topic/2789-giving-a-405-sport-wagon-another-chance/&page=16

I think those are 4 speed A/T but I could be wrong. So far sounds decent DD but I’ll wait till spring and make my decision. I think they are pretty easy to work on. I worked on many of them and they seemed pretty reliable, parts are easy to come by here and they sold a lot of C,S and E class here. -

It’s Nicks wife’s car, previous owner had a swap done at MBZ dealer and it comes with a stack of paper work. It’s in pretty good shape and it’s California car so no rust on it at all. He also have C36 AMG with 6 speed swap and I prefer A/T for DD and M/T cars are just slow #atforlife(swapping my DSM to A/T as well) I drove it few times and it’s more comfortable then 405 it absorbs bumps much better but it definitely feels much heavier, definitely you can feel it is much bigger car. Not worried about fuel economy,I always fill up around half tank anyways...have to get to work and around the the city regardless what fuel consumption or cost of fuel is. I told him I’ll think about all this in spring time,he’s definitely interested in this car. -
