  1. Saturday and Sunday I worked on Nikolas MI16,on Saturday we were working on it till 23:30 and coil failed on last test drive on same place in front of my house where it died on my Green car. He was about to drive it home but we found large coolant leak on rear plastic coolant manifold. Luckily I had new O ring but not plastic manifold. I do have few at my parts cars so next Saturday he's driving it home. I'll have him register here and make a build thread.
  2. I had these two wheel bearings dust caps made by same guy that made my 1g DSM CAS adapter.
  3. Hmmm weird. I just finished installing rear brakes E brake cable was up including all factory brackets. I also just finished brakes on Nick's MI16 and E brake cable is also up including all factory brackets. They are simular but not the same. Once you dissemble caliper E brake mechanism is different and piston is 36mm where on 405 is 38mm. However they do bolt up and work just fine on 405.
  4. I just looked and 6 of my 405's have them on top. I'm wondering if someone have accidentally turned them upside down for you guise? This is turning out to be interesting:-)
  5. On US cars hand brake cable is on the top. Not sure why!!!
  6. Finally had some free time to rebuild these rear calipers. It definitely was not fun but second one was lot easier. I also found on RockAuto new bleeder screws, caliper slide pin bolts and slide pin boots and they were unbelievably affordable.
  7. SRDT is correct on 306 knuckles, lower ball joint set up is different different then 405 ball joints. I'll play with this by end of the week and try to come up with the solution!
  8. Finally had some time to install water pump block off plate, timing belt, valve cover, mechaincal fuel pump bracket and few other things.
  9. Rabin the problem is in knuckle mounting ears, there is no space for bracket to push caliper 10mm back :-( I'm pretty sure that VR6 are 5 bolt lug cars so those rotors won't work. Perhaps a caliper bracket could work.
  10. Thanks Mike. Today I installed front caliper seal kit, replaced engine oil and filter, replaced belt and pullyes and swapped back to MI16 front C.V axles. I also performed full inspection and everything looks great and no oil or coolant leaks :-) I failed to install GTI6 brakes today because they don't fit :-( everything bolts up just fine, however with calipers mounted to knuckle it's pushing caliper 10mm forward which makes brake pad not to contact brake rotor for about 10mm. Solution for this problem is most likely 306 GTI knuckle. I'll report back when I get them. Picture below is GTI6 rotor next to 405 rotor. Mine definitely looks like it has been below service limit for some time, curtesy of previous owner!!!
  11. Definitely not a show car but it's going to be done right. Next week I'll take bolts and nuts to Zinc plating to have them done in factory color. So every single bolt will be redone and every bracket and part is powder coated.
  12. Many Jamaica Teal parts came in for my Spyder. I'm still waiting on rear subframe and gas tank shield.
  13. Unfortunately Wagons do not have time delay wiper stocks. And I do miss that as my wagon is my DD.
  14. GTI6 front brakes arrived from powder coater. Brake rotors are high heat ceramic coated and rear brakes are factory 405 brakes. In same time I'll replace engine oil, fuel filter, belt and pulleys.
  15. Both frame rails are buckled in and tail light panel is damaged as well. It looks like rear axle is bent as well. I maintain package car fleet,I was doing 12-14 hour shifts a day and most of Saturdays.
  16. Unbelievably as it might sound I've found set of Euro side skirts in US that were bargain!!! They do need to be repaired in few places but overall I'm satisfied. He also had extra set of bumpers but unfortunately he kept it at he's local body shop where they got tired of tripping over it and on the end they end up in the dumpster. I wasn't happy when I received that information :-(
  17. I haven't driven this car in months now but occasionally I remove cover off it and admire it!!!
  18. I did a lot of work on this GTi6 I.M and I got several days in cutting, shaving and welding. Currently it's at powder coater. I've also purchased DSM 70mm TB for it. And I almost forgot that I received Peter Taylor oil sump parts.
  19. I have also purchased new air compressor, reel and hoses. It's Ingresoll Rand 230V,5HP 80 gallons.
  20. Unfortunately for me someone ran in to left rear of my Green car and now is definitely totaled :-( I left it outside in the little alley behind my house and noticed the damge last Tuesday. For now I'll leave it as is and save another with this engine and interior. I have no intention of repairing this one now.
  21. Hello fellas!!! I know it has been a while since I visited last time but peak season at UPS leaves me no time for fun stuff. I'd like to share my latest purchase and updates with you guise and I'm hoping everyone is well. I purchased Black 89 MI16 in Washington and owner notified me that friend of he's may be interested in selling he's Sorento Green 91 MI16 that has been rear ended. After exchanging few emails I've purchased Green one as well and I had them both transported from Washington to California. Both of these are first running MI16's that I've purchased so far and Green car runs and drives very well. Interior is in pretty good shape as well and this had me convinced to get it back on the road. Same day I order a lot of parts for it and on the spot I replaced air filter, spark plugs, ignition wires, cap and rotor. Black car has awesome exterior and most of the interior is missing including brake master cylinder, front brakes and some engine parts. My friend Nikola was interested in the black car and convinced me to sell him the car as is. I was a little concerned as I haven't heard this car running, however he did not care and the deal was made. Same day we made a large parts order and very next weekend got it running. Here are few pictures of new acquired MI16's
  22. It can always be mounted on the side away from the radiator. My engine oil cooler is on the left and P/S cooler was on the right side. I removed my P/S added electric W.P and soon it will be A/T so previous spot that was used for P/S cooler will be used for A/T fluid.
  23. I would definitely upgrade!!! Luckily P/S doesn't require need for huge oil cooler so smaller size aluminum core would do great job. You may use regular P/S approved hose no need for SS braided one.
