  1. Just to be clear, when you say the "Engine Oil level is high", do you mean that it is higher than normal or is the level correct?
  2. Last week I noticed that the right headlight was quite dim. Some time ago I had the same thing on the left side. Back then I assumed it was a bad ground because most everything wrong usually is. That time it turned out to be the bulb, so the other day I picked up a bulb. Yesterday, on my way home, the right turn signal, both front and back, stopped working. This morning I went out to check that and it was working again, but while I was there I changed the headlight bulb. That did not help. It was still dim, so of course I tried jiggling the ground connections. I could get it to come on full power with my fingers on the connection but couldn't get a good reliable connection, so I took the ground block off, removed all the connections and cleaned everything with a toothbrush and contact cleaner. It's working properly now, but I think tomorrow, I may snip off all the original connectors on that side, and replace them.
  3. Did you get the Sun Roof in? Maybe I missed it, but last I recall that was not done and it would seem like something you'd want done before leaving it for 3 months.
  4. Is this a relatively new anti theft stereo that might require a code to resurrect it after it looses power?
  5. So that still leaves the issue of the hole where the North American lights were. Something has to go there.
  6. I think the point is, unless you are doing it for the fun of it, retrofitting a tubo on the non tubo engine, doesn't make sense. The cost, especially factoring in your time, would exceed the cost of getting a different car that already had the turbo. The AC, while not a trivial job, is a much more practical project.
  7. I may be wrong but I don't think the Euro ones mount in the fender. I think they mount in the Euro bumper which you don't have, and even if you did you'd have to do something with the holes in your fenders. I'm especially unsure about the back. I would think at least in the front you could put just that little piece of trim that holds the side markers back on with out needing the rest of it. If it were me, as nice as it looks without the trim, I'd want to protect that beautiful paint, and I would put all the side trim back on, just to keep it safe(er) in a parking lot. Failing that I think the small surrounds on the front marker lights would look fine without the rest of the trim.
  8. I can't tell you how inspirational it is to see your results. What are you going to do about the side Marker lights if you leave the molding off?
  9. I think Rabin is suggesting it would be cheaper to import a whole car, with those features, than to add them to the existing car, but he can correct me if I'm wrong. I don't have any personal insight on the practicality of retrofitting those items.
  10. It apears that they have returned to Paris after 21,000KM
  11. Depending on the engine you have, this might be the factory service manual for it http://www.peugeot505.info/files/manuals/505_wm_1986_3512_gb_01a.pdf This won't take you from not knowing anything to knowing everything but is something you should have on hand. First try decoding your VIN number to verify what engine you have. The wrong manual can sometimes be worse than no manual.
  12. If we figure out what engine you have, the factory service manuals can be found. It is possible, in that it would fit, but it is probably not worth it to do. You would have to change out a lot of the wiring harness and I think the input shaft on the transmission is different so you would probably need to change the whole drive train. The instrument cluster is different. I would look for another 505 configured more the way you want it, rather than try to jump through that many hoops to reconfigure this one so drastically.
  13. Mohammad, As a Diesel owner I'm not going to be of much help with your engine but I did want to welcome you here as well. I would think you might be in a better position to find parts and expertise in Egypt than we are in North America, since Peugeot left North America about 20 years ago. However that leaves North American Peugeot owners to fend for themselves. so you will probably find a wealth of knowledge here, just not from me. There should be a plate on the rear facing edge of the driver's side door that gives the month of manufacture, among other things. I think if your car was manufactured in 1979 it would be a 1980 model year. As far as I know that was the first year for 505s. I'm not used to thinking in L per 100k since we buy fuel by the Gallon in the US and of course my Diesils do much better than a gas powered one, but I would think you should be able to get "11L-15L per 100k" you were expecting. I get about 29 to 34 MPG which would translate to 8 - 7L per 100k, but again some of the guys here who drive gas powered 505s can tell you better. Andre posted information about VIN numbers here https://www.box.com/s/hk519p8z33t3xzjhsmam. I don't know if that same system applies to your car but that 10th digit might shed some light on the model year, and with more information about what engine you have, you will probably be able to get more help here. You might also check your VIN number through a decoder like this http://www.vindecoder.net/car-brand-manufacturer/peugeot
  14. You are absolutely sure the long (fore and aft) shift linkage is OK? If the car has been sitting a while, the milkiness could be from condensation.
  15. It looks like they have arrived in, or at least near, Ulan Bator. I gather they are trading places with another group of people for the return trip.
  16. I think your English is a lot better than my French, though we have some people here who Know French very well. I have been particularly interested because of my Wife's Mongolian heritage and my having driven Peugeots all my adult life.
  17. They will be redoing the siding on both the side and obviously the back walls, and they will redo the overhead, so none of it will will match the old, but the old won't show any more. We have to wait for the building inspector to come tomorrow before they can go any further. So tomorrow hopefully they will sheet-rock the inside, and finish with the baseboard heat units that had to be modified. then the carpeting guy has to do a little fixing. I think the siding guys will get to us either the end of this week or beginning of next week. It's not exactly how I would do it but the whole complex is being done at once, all the same. We were supposed to be done a couple of weeks ago but I had guests that week so I asked them to come back a different day. We are now the last of 350 units, although they currently have 9 units, in the same condition as mine, waiting for the inspector tomorrow.
  18. We have construction going on today. We're getting a new sliding glass door from the porch to the dining room. Glad I'm not doing it myself. It's about 96o F and humid.
