84 505 STI - XN6, BA7/5 manual

PeugeotPilot

Most of you probably don't know that I made my living as a working cowboy for seven years. This was after my time at university but before I became a professional pilot. Most of the ranches I worked for were up near Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, and the prevalence of dense Jackpine forest up there meant that herding cattle came with a special set of challenges. I had the good fortune to ride with some excellent horsemen and stockmen, and I learned a lot from them. During that time, this was my vehicle. I think this was the closest I've come to putting a Peugeot through the sort of use they see in Africa. This car spent at least half of its time off-road, and it handled it superbly. I hauled salt blocks, fencing supplies, all kinds of things with it. It never let me down once, and it was the sort of experience that cemented my love of the marque. I am supremely confident in my Peugeots to handle whatever gets thrown at them, and this car is one of the reasons why. It still runs after all this time, although that bulletproof XN6 currently needs a head gasket. I think I will wind up parting this one out, only because the rust is pretty bad. But it'll be the last one to go, and I'll miss it when it's gone. Lots of memories here...
