...did it!
An honest 504 Break from 1980 with a massive 59 hp is OURS!
Innocent-white!
It had to be a diesel - without electronics / ignition etc.!
Took a while and about 5,000 miles with the company vehicle and trailer across France. Some streets twice.
Here we met our old love, the lily-carrying chicken. ...was in Auxerre -- very violent. With a croissant, bain au choc and a grande caffee au 
lait, actually as big as an espresso!
Est tombé amoureux a nouveau! Old love -- rekindled! 1987 was back. 

We originally wanted a Dangel. For this we were in far-off Austria. It was a cool car, nailed like a blacksmith, but completely dented by hail, and restored sparingly. Everything made worse, nothing original. Oil change in all gear housings. New headlights, grill and headlining new. That's it! Bit little for 16 K euros.
-- as the French say "bon Etat".
No repaint! -- only repaired! --- Nationwide ---

At Rennes we previously bought scrab, excuse moi, a praying mantis. 504 Break Dangel frame and body shell with locked mechanical transfer case. The seller raved about his offer, "JUST ASSEMBLE - DONE".....Full restoration would be a realistic statement. So be it! Dangel frame without 
engine, with gearbox, body shell without doors and boot lid, only engine hood. This is now the basis for the project.
We brought the insect home grilled. It couldn't escape us at 90 mph on the track in F.




A second trip through France was just experience. Escaping drunk 504 selling Ziggies in suburban Dijon. A year-old car at Bar le Duc. Beautiful! 55,000 km, petrol engine 103 hp. Unfortunately too good to mutate into diesel! My wife pleaded with me for more than 30 minutes - 
...."no dents at all, 
no rust in mousy gray. Too bad to be disassembled!" ...."so gooood!" Just last weekend, after a 4-day journey via Austria, Brenner, Italy, Lago di Molveno, Limone Gardasee, Milano, Turin, Albertville, Rhone, LYON, we found our 504 to produce a "raised caravan (SUV)". 1980 First registration 1978 504 Break Commercial. No rust, with dents, OK, but as an everyday vehicle to replace our BMW 330xd, due to the power struggles of two 
states in the East, without spare parts, out of service, ideally suited! Original >127721<KM. 1 2 7 7 2 1 kilometer anagram!? With 50-60mph 530 miles in a row to the beautiful Vogelsberg. 103 degrees without air conditioning, I forgot that this is also possible! 

A 505 GTD aggregate, XD3TE, with 56,000KM is waiting for the BA 10/5 to cheer on the (now) little lion (formerly praying mantis) with 10 gears 
to climb the future in the past. With rapeseed, sunflower oil, fish oil or waste oil in the tank, let's see. Hydrogen will minimize emissions of nitrogen oxides and soot to 0. The cloth at the end of the exhaust will be innocently white! Now we can start looking for spare parts.

Hi Mike,
the 504 Dangel was available as a pickup and as a wagon. Both also with the XD2 and 70HP.
The 505 and 604 are powered by this engine and a BA5/10 gearbox. But also with an XD3TE and BA5/10.
Thus, the gearbox withstands the 115HP of the XD3te. 
The Dangel was very simply made and very solid. PSA served itself from the shelf of the newer Peugeot.
The rear axle was turned, so the shock absorbers and the springs (2 on each side) were from the wagon. The Pick Up has a rigid axle with leaf springs
The lower control arm on the front axle migrated to the frame screwed underneath and come from the rear axle of the 604. The front and rear differentials are locked, as can the transfer case, mechanically or hydraulically. I prefer the mechanical one. You insert it and you increase it. The transfer case has a 2:1 reduction that can be selected. you can drive up walls with it!
The 504 is a lot of fun!

It's been a while.
The four-wheel drive has not sold so well in Europe. The Japanese were cheaper. 
Dangel was mainly sold to the army, municipal works, police, fire departments, rescue, power stations and in French colonies.
