swept
recently had the cylinder head welded on my 1985 505 n9t turbo. the engine runs very well when warm. the problem is when the engine is cold the idle is far too low and so the engine runs very poorly until it heats up. I replaced the auxiliary air device but that didn't change anything. I have a workshop manual that details how to check all of the individual components related to ignition but I am wondering if anyone can point out which components I should start with. the workshop manual doesn't discuss this issue in the troubleshooting section. there are also no blinking lights on the dash to code for a particular issue. Bean
I would check and ensure the throttle switch is working and set properly to only engage at idle, and I would also make sure your TPS adjustment is done. http://www.505turbo.com/forum/index.php?/topic/316-505-turbo-tps-re-adjustment-procedure/#entry1812 Is the engine timing also set at 10 degrees? swept
great advice Rabin...the timing wasn't quite set at 10 degrees. as soon as that was adjusted the engine was a lot happier. TPS checked in at correct voltage. many thanks, Ken
