Bean
Yup - that one has been around a long time... Neat swap for sure - something Peugeot should have done at the factory in my opinion. Rabin
billbranch
That is very, very cool. If I had know what rust I'd find on my '89 V6 sedan and the money I'd sink into it, I'd have paid the dough for the swap into my turbo wagon. As Mr. Holm says, "The turbo engines are ticking time bombs."
Bean
As Mr. Holm says, "The turbo engines are ticking time bombs." I'd have to disagree - I just don't think that repairs are done properly as you can attest to now. Yes it has a head cracking issue, and yes the pistons are known to be weak in high boost situations, and the ECU can't be tuned easily - but there are LOTS of engines that have FAR worse issues that are simply overcome with fixes and solutions developed by enthusiasts or the aftermarket. We have a slim group of enthusiasts, and no readily available aftermarket - so it's much harder for us - but not impossible. It's not even any more expensive than what it would take to build up a Volvo B23FT (or any other turbo 4 cylinder) properly. Just read up on some DSM forums if you think the N9TE is bad.
