tie rod replacement

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone, I need guidance on how to properly replace my inner and outer tie rod on my 1981 505 XD2. I have the passenger wheel off and outer tie rod disconnected but I am unsure

of what the correct tool to use in order to pull the inner tie rod.

Thanks for any help! (as I am learning slowly how to work on my Peugeot)

...... attached is a picture of the inner tie rod connection......

...working from memory/ don't sue me! Let's call your pic two balls. The upper ball has a male thread that screws in the racks big ball. In between the two balls you see a thin ring. This ring locks the inner tie rod. A gazillion guys will help. That's all I remember.

Pipe wrench or something similar on the smaller dark metal ball. You can actually see wrench marks on it - likely from the install.

Good job on learning to fix it yourself too!
