Cam Spec

Hi.

Im in the process of fitting a turbo on my murena engine (more or less the same as the n9t)

I have a used Murena cam that needs to be re-cut due to wear (if its not too far gone)

And rumour has it that it's pretty close to the n9Txx ones.

Murena cam: Lift 6.5mm Timing 19°12' 56°48' 54°48' 13°12'

Period (Inlet) 256° (Exhaust) 248° Overlap 32°24'

Its not my intend to build a race car, but rather to gain as much power/torque in the 2500-4500rpm band.

Do anybody know if this cam is any good for this?

I'd compare with the specs listed in this post:

As for what spec to use - I'd say stock N9TE if you want the power band low. It'll depend a lot on the turbo you're using as well - but something small that spools nice and quick would be ideal.

Thanks for your reply Bean..

Yah, I guess that stock N9te cam will be a good choice for my purpose.

The Turbo I plan on using right now, is a rebuild second hand T3 (TB0382).

If this proves unsuitable, I will probably end up buying a brand new (oil only) unit.....since the extra the "plumbing" of the T3 will add yet more stuff in my already cramped and in accessible engine room.

What is the AR number for the turbo?

Here the NA market 85' 505 Turbo's had the oil cooled turbo, but I believe it was a slightly bigger turbo in that the AR was a bit higher than the later models.

As for the water cooled turbo's - there's really not that much more to them, you just need to T into the top and bottom rad hoses to bring it into the circuit. Reliability goes up, and the real hard part is the oil supply which you'll already have to do.

Not sure what you're working with though for space - so even T's into the lines might be difficult.

Good luck though!
