505 Window Crank Handle Removal Help

Recommended Posts

Having lived with a 505 with power windows for almost 18 years, I was surprised to find that I was stumped by the manual window crank in my newly acquired 86 505 GL wagon. I am trying to remove the door liner panel but could not get past the window crank handle. I looked and looked and could not find any hidden spring clip. I give up......... How do you remove the window crank?

I don't have any experience with the manual 505 windows, but every crank window I've ever removed has been with a clip remover.

Push the panel back - you cant miss it. Push down it will pop out; its a C clip. Also a good time to clean/oil the tracks.

OK, the mystery was finally solved. There is no clip on the style of crank in my car. The crank pops off when it is pulled hard enough. Look at the picutures. If you come across this type of crank, don't waste your time looking or feeling for the clip like I did.
