august
I just got off the phone with Miles at western hemispheres, and he said he has full N9T gasket sets. They are made by Cortec (not sure, anyone have any experience with this brand?). He said the exahust manifold gaskets are the same thickness, and made for turbo cars, but aren't metal like the OEM ones (they're composite). this also means that he has individual gaskets now which we didn't have access to before: - intake manifold gasket - exhaust manifold gasket - oil pan gasket http://westernhemispheres.com/westernh/ite...id=8102&eflag=0 (Includes head gasket, but not sure what brand head gasket. I know he still has the good mellior gasket in stock)
bill
Nice report. Last year I picked up an OEM oil pan gasket on ebay for like $5 plus shipping, but when it arrived, it was hard and dried out. I forgot about shelf life on some things. Matthew
Last year I did a cilinder head overhaul. For the gaskets, I used the gasket set that's made by Glaser. It's a Spanish company that's part of the Dana company. See: www.glaser.es The gasket set can be found under Talbot Murena, N2 coded engine. It's practically the same as the N9T*. Murena/Tagora gaskets fit nicely. The intake manifold gasket is paper, but it's ok. The valve cover gasket was teh cork one. You can also try at Auto Simon in Germany: he's specialized in Talbots. Anyway, the exhaust manifold gaskets are made of the head-gasket material. Seems to hold pretty good. It's mounted using the 8 studs that Talbots use. Does anyone have experience with the Mecaparts reinforced head gasket (ordering/using)? Matthew
august
Does anyone have experience with the Mecaparts reinforced head gasket (ordering/using)? Matthew I'm assuming your talking about the gasket that was being discussed here? http://www.505turbo.com/forum/index.php?sh...;hl=head+gasket I'm not sure if anyone has bought one alone. I think they are the same gaskets that come with the danielson head's when you buy one from Politecnic. I'd like to try one out, but i'm not sure what the cost / value ratio is, it seems a little expensive when the OEM ones can handle tons of boost already. Last year I made an unsuccessful attempt to buy one via MatraMagic (I replied to your mail). I wondered if the extra bucks would pay off. Guest OB6D
Today i got me a headgasket from the dealer. It's not an original Peugeot one. It says: Curty Payen. Joint de culasse, Cyl head gasket 1.35mm Mot./Eng. 362 1981cm3 N9T, N2 2156cm3 Vehic. 505 Turbo injection (03/83>) Murena 2.2 (1981-84) Tagora GL/GLS (1981-83) Chrysler 2L (1973>1980) It was made in France [ohw well...] on 10/09/1999 BL 610 046990 for a partnumber and it cost me 45 Euro. It looks better then the one that came from the Murena gasket set i had earlyer. That one was a piece of cake to blow. Didn't look as rigid as this one either. The rings look tougher, but are not nearly round. And it has a print of some sort of coating.
