  1. Update with Pictures: For anyone interested in my 86 505 Turbo below is a link to pictures. https://picasaweb.google.com/106790675781017859578/86Peugeot505GasTurbo?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCNmqiOC1ldCh-QE&feat=directlink Rabin I do not have a FB account but feel free to post the link to anyone or anywhere. I would love the car to go to someone that will use it as it has a lot of miles left inside it. I just have too many other projects at this point. Best bet to contact me is at: [email protected] Steven
  2. Billy, The car is a 4 door sedan with the 5 speed manual. I will try to get some pictures of the car posted online soon. Car is pretty clean. We bought the car when my first child was born, once we had our 3rd child it was time for a minivan. The 505 was used only in the summer and garaged all winter long, hence no salt on the car or rust. Steve
  3. After owning my 505 Turbo since new I am thinking of selling it. Car is located in Suffolk County NY zip 11960. It is metalic blue. The car has some good and bad points: The Good: Only 59,000 miles Original Owner Rebuilt Water pump Rebuilt Alternator New clutch Slave 2 new tires Recent battery No major accidents or rust Runs well - good power once warm (see below) The Bad: Needs to be re-painted. The paint is showing age It has a cold start problem - In the summer it starts fine Once temperature falls below 40 it start and stall a dozen times before it keeps running Sunroof is inoperable Cruise control and fog lights do not work Small rip in leather on drivers seat side. 6" inch crack in upper right hand corner of windshield - passes inspection with no problem Antenna does not retract fully. Not really sure what it is worth, but I am looking to get about $1,000. Feel free to ask question or make an offer. If interested please contact me off list at: [email protected]
  4. I wish I had not read this. My windows have also been getting slower and slower and I was hoping to just ignore it. Now with this tip I will need to open up the door (passenger side is real slow) and rebuild them. Thanks Steve 86 Turbo 02 Mini S 59 Bugeye
  5. Before you take off the diode pack squirt some penetrating oil on the bolts and let it sit overnight. That may prevent them from snapping in two like mine did. Also, make sure to mark where the insulting washers belong, I was in a hurry and did not do this. When it came time to reassemble I had to stare at all the connections for an hour to figure out what was grounded and what was "hot". Good Luck.
  6. I think it is a 70 amp alternator. each side has two button diodes for a total of 6 diodes. The original used 35 amp diodes so times 2 gives you 70 amps. I purchased the 50 amp version hoping it will last longer. I do not know if it will change the output, but I can tell you the battery feels like it is getting a better charge.
  7. Rabin, Good suggestion as it took me a few days to verify the correct parts for the Rhone 505 turbo alternator. Below are the parts I used for my rebuild ordered online from Holcombe Direct. Qty Item # Description Price --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 11-RP-04H VALEO,50 AMP,115mm OD $15.25 1 09-VRPR1925H PR,14.6 Volt Set $9.95 Subtotal: $25.20 Shipping: $12.53 Total $37.73 Steve 86 peugeot 505 turbo 59 bugeye sprite 02 mini copper s

  9. After realizing from this forum and other places that I could not find a replacement, I rebuilt the alternator in my 505 gas turbo this summer. From what I read the rotor and windings rarely fail, so the key parts are the regulator and tri-diode pack. These can be purchased for 9.95 and 15.25 from Holcombe Direct. To change them you do not even have to take apart the alternator - just unbolt the regulator and solder in the new diode set. This assumes the bearings are in good shape. I ended up taking mine apart because the bolts holding the diode set broke. I could not get replacements easily so purchased a hex bolt of the correct thread and ground the head down to fit into the insulating cup on the inside of the alternator. Hope this helps. Thanks all for the tips in the forum. Steven 86 peugeot 505 turbo 59 bugeye sprite 02 mini copper s
  10. I also had the water pump go on my 1986 505 gas turbo. After looking around I found a shop near me, Arthur Gould Rebuilders, in Kings Park, NY that specializes in rebuilding old water pumps and mechanical fuel pumps. They pressed it all apart, replaced all the bearings and seals and had it back to me in 1 week. They even made the gasket that I thought I would need to fabricate. They are real nice and easy to work with, I am adding a link to their site if anyone else needs help. http://arthurgouldrebuilders.com/ Steve 1986 peugeot 505 gas turbo 1959 bugeye sprite 2002 mini cooper s
