I'm not sure if the battery in an '83 505 is in the same location as in a 504, so the story I'm about to tell may not be applicable... I too had a problem with intermittent shutoff of the XD2 in my 504, and I had suspected the solenoid because of the abrupt nature of the shutoff. The valve tested ok, so I was stumped. Then I noticed that it happened most often during acceleration while going of a bumpy section of road. I pulled over and popped the hood to take a closer look and found that the bracket that holds the battery was loose, and the battery would slide back during acceleration on a bumpy road and crush the wire leading to the shutoff valve and short it out. Fixed the wire and tightened the battery and never had the problem again. I'd check the solenoid wires and plugs to start. This probably won't be much help, but thought I'd share just in case...

What are 504 owners doing these days with regards to sunroof seals? They seem to be unavailable, and the set that the eBay vendor from Argentina offers isn't a correct match for original French-made 504 models. While our 504 was sold years ago, the latest new owner (changed hands a couple of times) tracked me down and I'm trying to help him restore it. He's located in Hungary and has come up dry with his European sources, so I'm hoping someone on this side of the Atlantic either has a good seal set, or has any leads on where it can be found.
