ptootsov
Due to lack of time to devote to it, I am putting up my 1987 Peugeot 505 STX for sale. I would let it sit, but that’s not the right thing to do for this car. It needs to be driven. The car was purchased new by my father in 1988 and has been in the family since. After he passed my mother drove it until 3 years ago when due to failing health she stopped driving it. It sat for 2 years in her garage until I asked her for it and brought it back onto the road. The car has always been garaged and has a folder full of service records going back to its purchase. It was serviced at the dealer and after Peugeot shut down the car was maintained by one of the former dealer mechanics. The car has only 77k miles on it. Mechanical The car runs strong and passed NJ emissions in Nov 2013 after sitting for 2 years and after only one fresh tank of gas. It has always had premium grade gasoline in it. It has new belts, a new alternator, and battery. Tires are a year old with about 3k miles on them. The a/c wasn’t working well a few years ago and my mother had the belts disconnected. The belts and pulley are in the trunk. When I got the car I spent a weekend cleaning all the grounding trees. All the electronics seem to work, including the digital clock. The heated seats don’t seem to get warm, but I have yet to start tracing the circuit. Exterior Condition The body is in great shape. I did not get a chance to wash it as the weather has not been the greatest. The paint and clear coat are in fantastic shape for a 28 year old car as you can see in the pictures. There is a shopping cart ding on the rear driver’s side door. The fog lights are missing as dad hit the parking curb once and broke one. He removed the other and over the years it’s gotten lost. I replaced the trunk lift support, but still keep the broom handle there for nostalgia. Interior The blue leather seats are perfect with no rips or tears. There are no cracks in the dash. The headliner does not sag. A cassette got stuck in the original stereo so I replaced it with an aftermarket unit with cd and Bluetooth. I still have the original head unit which will go with the car. The sunroof cable broke (no big surprise there) and I have disconnected the switch to keep it closed. I have the original front carpeted floor mats but the rubber backing has disintegrated. I will include them if you want. Misc My daughter hit the passenger side mirror against the garage door opening recently and broke the mirror housing. I have another housing but without a mirror. I will try to flip it out before it is sold. I also have a sunroof windscreen as well. For that true 80’s nostalgia touch, the 505 comes with a Peugeot bra as seen in one of the pictures. My daughter will not let me keep it on the car. The car still turns heads but I just don’t have the time and funds to get it to the next level. My daughter is starting college in the fall and proceeds from this sale will go towards her education. Half of my life has been spent knowing and driving it, but it’s time to let it go. I’m posting it here first but will be listing on eBay shortly. I just wanted it to go to someone who knows Peugeots and would appreciate it for what it is. I’m asking 4,000 or b/o. The car is located in Morris County, New Jersey. Thanks for looking.

DaveDDS
Wonderful car. I had an 84 STI for 15+ years and ran it to 225k miles on original engine and tranny. Best handling car I ever owned. Does your Peugeot burn any oil? What county are you in?
ptootsov
I've never had to add oil between changes. I'm in Randolph, Morris County, NJ.
