anj
Hi all Update on my interior mod on my 87 STX. When I purchased the car it smelled bad from brake fluid and water in the interior. The clutch line had clogged and the fluid was coming into the interior and the front carpet pads were saturated. Water was also coming in and the back pads were wet. The pads were tossed and the carpets cleaned up well at the car wash. After fixing the clutch line I started installing dynamat. The plan is to cover the entire interior including the roof, doors and also the hood and truck. I have purchased 3 bulk packs from Amazon which was 1/2 price to other retailers and included free shipping. The price is now comparable to the imitators. I have used two packs for the floor, seat back and parcel shelf. I have finished the floor and now will cover the dynamat with Stinger roadkill foam pad rkcp12. It comes in 32x54 and bought from Amazon at 1/2 price $43 with free shipping. I can't see paying full price for the stuff. I was going to try using a vinyl adhesive used in making shower pans. I recently bought a parts car and hope to use the orginal foam in the front since it is contoured. Arun
webmaster
Looks good! One tip though - you should attach small pics - like 800x600 small and they'll be much easier to view. Or post them to a photo gallery and imbed them. Rabin
anj
Hi all Update on my soundproofing. After the dynamat I am adding a 5/8" vinyl/foam from Stinger that come in a 32"x54" pad. After a little trial and error it goes down well with normal gel contact cement. I tried water based contact cement which did not work and spray contact worked but it is more expensive, easy to apply but not as strong. I found that around contours I dont use butt joints but overlap and remove the foam on the overlapping vinyl. I able to get a waterproof layer that wont absorb moisture and will also contain liquid. I am going to do the footwells, the hump and the parcel shelf. Arun
