  1. thats the first time i heard of the not revving past 1500 rpm in park or neutral - how come?

The auto transmissions shouldn't be revved in park or neutral past 1500 rpm. Don't let any emissions testing stations do it either if you have any of those.

Hopefully it's a well maintained car, and you're in the home state to two of our vendors so you should be better off than the rest of us! Posting pictures and impressions would be great. When these cars are in good tune and well sorted, they hold their own with the best even today.

  2. i have euros on mine, and never had a second glance at inspection time - but i get nys inspection, not jersey....but really, im confident no one cares heh.

my pug is for sale btw, $1500...theres a post in the "for sale" section...maybe consider it a $1500 pair of euro lights, with a 505 still attached =)

push has come to shove, and i have to put my Puggy up for sale. 27X,XXX miles

and counting (she's daily driven), oil changes and maintenance MOSTLY kept up to

date - i say "mostly" because her rear rotors are looking thin to me, and i

think that should be on the to-do list for the next owner, and she could use an

alignment as well. she's just about due for an oil change, and i might get that

done before the next owner comes along.

-has a pioneer removable face CD stereo deck with usb and aux inputs, and four

    alpine 6.5 speakers all around.

-very reliable, been on numerous road trips, never missed a beat, except for me

leaving the lights on and having to replace the battery once, and another time

the anti-theft system wouldnt let the ignition key all the way in (got around

that with a paper clip and advice from this forum, and since replacing the stock

radio, the problem has never reoccurred.

-i have a roofrack (thule) that might go with the car, depending on the price.

    What's broken/doesnt work:

-sunroof doesnt open. also the sunroof panel has some rusting. i have a clean

panel (thank you kitfoster!!! - he's a member of this forum and let me salvage

some parts from his 505) that you can have with the car, along with a bunch of

other spare parts i got from kitfoster (switches, misc)

-drivers side power mirror (i adjust it manually by clicking it against the

    motor). passenger side works fine.

-highest fan setting ("4") usually doesnt work, though sometimes she surprises

    me

-power steering rack has an o-ring that leaks fluid

-she leaks fuel from the filler neck when the tank is topped off

-drivers seat has some wear-thru on the left lower bolster

-wheel alignment is slightly off, so she needs that done

-and not seen in the pics, she was dented while parked (it was after new years

eve, so i suspect a drunk hit her). front fender has a crease, i will take pics

    and update with that.

-passenger side rear inside door handle (the chrome pot-metal handle) is broken,

i have a replacement (thanks to kit!), but have not replaced yet. that door

itself usually sticks a bit, and is a lil harder to open than it should be also.

    -front dome light works sometimes

-cruise control used to work, now it doesnt...i have replacement stalks

(basically, consider all the replacement parts i have as a "thank you shout out"

to kit foster), hopefully that will fix it?

    -dashboard does have some cracks/blisters

-i am sure im forgetting some smaller items that i have taken for granted over

the years (i've owned her since summer 2010, and she had 2 owners before me -

was originally a california car), but i'm aiming to be as honest as possible

about her. I'm in Jersey City, right by the Grove Street path station, and am

usually home after 7pm on weekdays, and can be available whenever on the

weekends if you tell me you'd like to see her. my number is 917 517 zero four

six five and my email is obaksh@gmail dot com

Will be cleaning her up this weekend (i have a ton of random nonsense in the

trunk and she needs a vacuuming/overall cleaning anyway). Have no objection to

anyone wanting to see her before i finish cleaning her up though, other than

feeling a little ashamed of the empty water bottles behind the driver seat hehe.

My girlfriend and I love this car, but i have more toys than space these days,

    so she's got to go.

more things - i have the original peugeot radio and an 80s blaupunkt radio, stalks, window switches, seatbelts, american headlights, parking lights, and some other misc spare parts that will all go with the car.

  4. welcome and greetings to a fellow redditor =)

yeah, there arent more than maybe 2 other guys on reddit (that i know of) that have any real world experience with peugeots.

the wheel fitment issue like andre said, we talk about that a lot here. search a lil, you'll find our gigantic threads about wheels - Arun (a poster here) recently pulled off a pretty sweet hub swap and wound up with one of the best looking 505s on the site (in my opinion). While i'm at it, lemme give you an idea of the folks around here:

Rabin - master rally mechanic/driver. theres vids of his 505 rallycrossing in this forum. also has a mean looking car.

Andre - currently doing a meticulous rebuilding of his 505 - basically making his 505 ride and feel on par with a new quiet modern car

Bryan, N9TE, Koll, (actually i always get those names confused...may be the same person, or i might also be forgetting someone), and Victor - these dudes race 505s. hardcore. i think Victor dailies the red 505 you see if you look up the peugeot 505 scca champion youtube video.

ikenna - 505 nut in nigeria, has gotten way way into diagnosing his car (a v6 if i recall right), and super beyond helpful to forum members looking for hard to find parts (he's able to source a lot of cool stuff in his country, as long as you can handle the shipping)

There are more posters, and its not that theyre less important than the ones noted above, i just wanted to give you a glimpse of the kinda folks on this forum. Its a very cool group.

shocks? the original peugeot shocks, if it still has them, are rebuildable and excellent.

worried about the live axle? drive the car a bit, do some autocrosses, then lets talk about that. you're not gonna suddenly spin out on the highway due to wheelhop unless you're driving in a manner to deliberately spin out. You'll be fine with the live axle, at least for a few years as you first start driving the car and learning how to drive better. If/when you get really serious about driving as a hobby/career...well. You'll get there when you get there. When you first get your 505, you'll have your hands full just doing basic resto work on the systems of the car. cleaning grounds, changing bulbs, brake pads, tune up, etc. And in the process of doing all those lil things, you'll learn more and more about the car, and become more comfortable with the inner workings of it. Also, as a redditor, hang out on r/cartalk and r/mechanicadvice - you'll learn a bit just reading the answers there to others' problems.

importing the car to canada - you have some fellow canadians on this forum, im sure they'll chime in

hope you hang around and post/read the forum often! as it is, you should probably start by just reading every damn thread in every subforum hehe

  5. i was there the same weekend, at lemons on the other track at summit point - we had deer sightings along the main straight, but thankfully no accidents

also, driving to and from summit point, i think ive tripled the # of deer ive ever seen in my life. </cityboy>
