  1. About those yellow headlights: In France it was until around 1975 forbidden to use white ligths. All cars had yellow lights. In the 80's both were allowed on new cars and since 1995 each new car has to have white lights.

    Therefore a lot of original French 505's have those yellow lights. Only the normal lights, the 'big' lights were white. Although you don't see them a lot anymore here in France, they are still available and don't cost much more then white ones. Even half spheres of yellow glass are sold which you can click on the white lights, making them...yellow lights!

    Anyway it doesn't cost a lot of money, you don't have to change the compleet unit but it is much more relaxed for your eyes and those of the oncoming traffic. But it's typical french and rarely seen in America I think.

  2. I'm 27. When I was a child my parents drove a 505 Familiale (7 places). There my love for the 505 comes from. I always wanted a 505 and looked very hard to find one in good condition, which is not easy in Holland. Only 350 remains, most of them are shipped to Africa. The ones that are left are rarely in very good shape. But in december last year I found one. I'm also driving a 306 and before that I had a 205.   3. My little brother got my old 205, but because he's only 16 and in Holland we're not allowed driving before we are 18, he uses it only on the farm of my father. I hope he won't drive on the road like this when he's 18! Surely this car won't survive another 2 years.

    In the first one is more of a memorial to his old car that is already dead.

    In the second he is really rough using the car as a plough you could say.

  4. Welcome and nice GTI! My first experiences with a 505 was in Africa so I know well the volume of Peugeot that are sent there...mostly the GR and SR and the occasional STI.

    Thanks, I'm very happy with this preserved example. Only 125.000km in 20 years and always parked in a garage. Only a very little bit of rust near the front left wheel. Most Dutch 505's that are completely original are very rusty because of the all the rain and snow in our country.

    In the early 90's several 10.000's 505 drove in Holland. Only 350 remain today. It's the same story as the 504. In the 80's and 90's almost all 504's in Europe were bought by African traders because they are strong cars with very strong engines (Not rarely they drive over 1.000.000 kilometers). Especially the carburator and diesel engine are loved because of their simple technics. When all 504's were exported or in hands of collectors, they started to buy the 505's which have the same charaterictics. Especially the Breaks were populair: They were the largest breaks produced in Europe.

  5. Hello everybody,

    As you all, I'm fan of the Peugeot 505. Not that much for tuning, more to keep them original. It is becoming a classic car en very scarce in Holland at least (only 350 exist today). Most 505's are exported to Africa.

    The European 505's look slightly different than the american ones as you will see. Mine is an GTI from 1986. The first to photo's were taking in Holland, in the region where I was born. The last three in the French mountains, where I'm living at the moment.
