  1. Hi Nice to see another French member. Well, I'm not French, but I lived for two years in Grenoble. Do you know the site http://www.club-peugeot505.com ? Quite a lot of activity on this french 505-forum. A few times a year they have meetings. I was there during the last one in Sochaux. It was quite nice. Aboout 20 505's came. We visited the puegeot museum and discussed technical issues. Also we had the first meeting of 'the' French 505-club. Bram de Bruin
  2. Apart from my 505 GTI 2nd series I have a 604 SRDTurbo of 1982 which runs on vegetable oil. I use that one daily, because running on vegetable oil doesn't contribute to the global warming; I don't exhaust any CO2 and toxic gasses (netto).
  3. For more picture of mainly 505 and 504 Dangel Break and Pickup's visit the photo site of the Dangel meeting of last weekend. Also a lot of off-road action pictures: http://persodangel.free.fr/img.php?i=1&cdir=vosges&page=103
  4. As an addition to my collection I bought 2 505 Break's. A GRD Familiale and a GLD Break, both from 1982. They are both not in perfect state, but by changing some carroserie and interieur parts I can make one in great condition! The other one I can easily sell for export to Africa. They are not interested in damage or rust. As long as the motor is running! I don't have the GLD at home yet, but here ar som pics of the GRD.
  5. The oldies didn't find this site yet probably.
  6. When I disassemble something and put it back together, there are often some bolts left. Luckily my car is not falling apart yet. I can't tell you where these bolts came from, but when it's not rattling or making strange noises, I wouldn't worry too much. Just keep these bolts apart and labeled and maybe you find a place to put them another time.
  7. Seems strange that all Peugeot 505 drivers here are between 20 and 40 years. In Holland this car was, in the eighties at least, popular by drivers between 50 and 70 years.
  8. I also registered on the french forum. To visit every page you have to be a member of the Peugeot 505-club in France. And yes, a lot of slang is used. In fact, often they write exactly the letters that you hear when you speak french. That does not look like the real words. For example the word 'quand'(=when) is often written as 'kan' or 'Qu'est-ce que c'est'(=What is that) is written as 'keske ce'. If you understand the spoken french language you can understand a lot, but an elektronic translator can't handle it. Even for me it is often hard to understand.

    hello people

In Holland the GTI is a rare model. The Dutch don't like to spend much money. People who needed a sevenseater in those days could choose between a Volvo or a Peugeot 505. For economical reasons most people chose a 505 GL or GLD. SR, SRD, GTDT and GTI breaks are very rare in Holland.

    hello people

@ maxlee: Welcome. By coincidence I saw a 7-seater 505GTI in England on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.nl/1987-PEUGEOT-505-GTI-FA...1QQcmdZViewItem Maybe not your first choice, but a GTI break is very rare.
  11. Do you mean the dutch or the french forum, August? Of course some, but not much slang on the dutch forum, I think. Anyway you should always be able to check the 505-pictures I mention above. They are the same in each language
  12. The sub-forum http://www.vandansik.nl/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=50 is dedicated to the 505. Most topics contain pictures. http://www.vandansik.nl/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2235 contains a lot picture of different versions off the 505. For the example the very rare cabriolet. Only 2 of them were built! Also racing models, Dangels, ambulances, a pickup, a Coupe and the Coupe Claparéde. The last one is very ugly I think.
  13. I see You're a real 505-specialist. After seeing all this, I'm pretty sure you're right and my uncle was wrong. It has been over 15 years ago since he sold his last new 505 ofcourse.
  14. Dangel got complete cars from the factory and only changed them into 4X4. I know of existing Dangel versions of the GTI, the GR, GRD and the SRD. But I think they exist with all possible engines.
  15. Are you sure? This is what my uncle told me, who is Peugeot dealer and specialist for 30 years already(He is not the seller though). I'm sure I don't have a Turbo injection, so it will be the ZDJ than. He might overestimated my car maybe. Are you sure the ZDJ isn't a Chrysler engine? I will check the documentation I got with the car soon. I only have it for a month now, so I don't know very much about it yet.
  16. To be honest, I've seen only one in my live. A few years ago for 7.500 euros in a showroom. There are very rare because they are even more wanted in Africa than normal 505's. They do very good work offroad off-course. In Africa a lot of roads can hardly be called roads.
  17. Nice car. Looks good indeed. If it had 200.000km it's not too bad. But 200.000 miles is over 300.000km if I'm not mistaken. That might be a bit over the top.
  18. This may appeal to you americans: The GTI has a 4 cylinder 2.3l 140 hp CHRYSLER engine. It seems it was manufactured in Great Britain, but it is an american brand if I'm not mistaking. In Europe were two more powerful engines avaible: a 4 cilinder turbo in the 505TI and a 2.9l V6 engine. The last one was only avaible for three years (1987,88 and 89) when the 604V6 was out of production and the 605V6 was not yet introduced. By the way, you did a good job in restoring the carroserie. This is by far the weakest part of peugeots. Overall they are very strong cars. In Holland peugeots are only taken off the roads when they are too rusty or had a very bad accident. Engines and other technics are (almost) always OK.
  19. In Holland we call it "gedoogbeleid", this means something as tolerant management. Of course we have rules and laws in our countries, but for some laws there are no penalties, so in fact you don't have to follow them. When it gets out of hand, the government makes new rules how to interpret these laws. It's difficult to explain in English for me, but Holland seems to be the only country that works like this. Sometimes it is a bit confusing, but it works very well overall.
  20. Thanks. It still is in very good shape and has it's orignal paintwork. Only 125.000km in 20 years. The 505 becomes quite rare in Europe due to export to Africa, so I'm keeping him original. I cleaned the car last week, removed al the salt and it stays in my garage now until all the snow is gone. You know probably that old french cars rust very quickly. For the daily traffic I use my 306, the 505 is only for rides in the weekend when the weather is nice.
  21. In Europe they are still very populair. Although they are more than 15 years old, you won't find a nice one for less than 5000 euros. Do they exist in America also?
  22. Well, in Holland there are also streetraces. They are officially forbidden off course. But Holland is a strange country in many ways. When you call the police and tell them were you want to have race and what date and time, you have a change that they come and close the road for you. Off course not in the middle of the city, but some roads at the end of industry areas are used for this purpose, but only on sunday when there is now traffic in that area. It's a bit like soft drugs. Everybody in the whole world thinks it is legal in Holland. Wrong, it is forbidden. There are a few exceptions though: You may not carry it on the public road, unless it's less than 5 gram. You may buy it, but you may not sell it, unless you have a cafe were no alcohol is sold and that you call coffeeshop, but never more than 5 gram per person. You may not use it, unless you're in a coffeeshop or at home. You may not have the plants at your home, unless you have less than 5. greetz, Bram
  23. Did you know that the company Dangel equiped lots of 505 Breaks in Europe with 4X4 tranmission? Here are some pics:
  24. No problem, but you go thinking about cleaning up General Peugeot section. This is full of topics that fit very well in other section. It's almost like there is only one section on this forum.
