Hi Hugh, any chance you'd have a spare 505 windshield you'd be willing to part with? I bought a 1980 505 TD with a transplanted XD3T in it from a friend in Kelowna recently. Unfortunately a couple of vandals got to it while it was parked at his place, they kicked in the windshield. Doesn't seem to be much in the way of spare windows on offer in this part of Canada. I saw from a previous post you are the proud owner of several 505s.

Richard:
My cell number is (403)928-7091 and my email is [email protected]. I'll receive either a text or email fairly quickly, and can probably reply quicker that way. I have one 505 windshield that is removed and ready to go if you like the look of it. I will need a bit of time to pull the other spare I've got though. How's it looking for a trip out to Cayley this weekend?
I suppose we should also discuss a price at some point.

Hi Richard, glad to see you got the message. I think perhaps I may have a windshield for you after all. The one I most recently removed from one of my Series I (pre-1986) parts cars was attached in the manner you describe. Basically, the seal pulls out, at which point one has to use a sharp knife to cut through the glue bond that attaches the windshield. I'm not sure when they changed this, but the rubber seal does not hold the windshield in place in the cars I'm describing. It basically wedges between the glass and the metal of the windshield frame, and then a plastic strip is forced into a slot running down the center of the seal, expanding it and (hopefully) creating a seal. Does this sound familiar? Maybe I should send you some pictures of what I've got. Might have to wait until warmer weather though, as I'm very reluctant to pull another windshield when the temperatures are so low.

I'm really sorry, Richard. I hadn't been on in a while and for some reason I stopped getting notifications from this site. Just catching up a bit now. I don't think I have a windshield that will work for you. There are a few on eBay but the shipping will be high. I will see what I have and let you know but I suffered a similar thing a few years ago when some punk kicked in a bunch of my 505 windshields at our property near Calgary. I might have one I can spare but it may not fit your particular car given the year. I do know a guy in Quebec who might have a line on some windshields so I'll ask him about one for a 1980 car.
Windshields are a bit of a problem with these cars as they are very necessary and yet really hard to get now.
