  1. Hi Everyone, I have 4 matching wheels from a 1984 505 STI. Good usable shape with good TRX Michelin Tires on them. Two of them are Michelin X snow tires, like new, Less than 200 miles and perfect rubber (no cracks). The other two are standard tread Michelin TRX tires with also plenty of tread (these are starting to show some cracking in the rubber).

    $200 for all 4

My wife paid $400 for the rear TRX tires alone back in December and then her injection pump started leaking terribly and stopped driving the car. I now have her "summer" wheels and tires on the care while we are finishing repair work, so she has decided to let this spar set go to anyone that can use them to help pay for the mechanical work being done.

    $200 thanks

Will also trade for parts or mechanics services. Currently we need a steering rack rebuild, an injection pump re-seal, car needs paint work. Willing to come to anyone within a 5 hour drive of 15221 for help to get our car in better shape. Thanks Again.

  2. Thanks Tulaweb. My pump is actually leaking from the block where the injector lines connect (square-ish looking seal).

I have located a replacement pump but it is from an later model. Everything seems identical except for the timing advance solenoid on the late model one. Any ideas on how to either bypass the solenoid or wire it into my 84'? Maybe wire it into some sort of temp sensor?

  3. Hi Everyone, looking for help on our 84' 504 STI Turbo Diesel:

Car runs very well but recently we noticed fuel leaking... then today it was practically pouring out of the injection pump, maybe near the back close to where the 4 line fittings are located.

    Car is still running perfectly.

    What do we do?

I have read about rebuilds? Car only has 70k miles on it so maybe it needs a new seal or gasket?

Is this something I should try to tackle? Any step-by-steps on this?

    Many thanks for any help.

  4. Hi Everyone, I need guidance on how to properly replace my inner and outer tie rod on my 1981 505 XD2. I have the passenger wheel off and outer tie rod disconnected but I am unsure

of what the correct tool to use in order to pull the inner tie rod.

Thanks for any help! (as I am learning slowly how to work on my Peugeot)

...... attached is a picture of the inner tie rod connection......

  5. been trying to contact Brian @ Peugeot Holm in VT with no luck.

Does anyone have the clutched cooling fan for the engine? I have the condenser fan for the AC system.

Anyway, let me know guys. thanks.

What temp controlled electric fan is easiest for conversion from the stock magnetic? Seems my fan clutch has stopped working and figured I would try an electric.

    Thanks,

  6. Hello all,

In the past the indicator with battery sensor and my water temp light have been dim on my dash while driving, but recently they are bright and ON. Now my car will not start. I installed a new battery and a new alternator but the lights are still ON> I can start the car a couple times and drive, but if the car sits for a day the battery goes dead. Any Advice on what to check next?

Does anyone know what that battery sensor light is hooked up too? Can the starter motor or solenoid drain the battery, or maybe the ignition switch?

Not sure where to go next. Thanks,

    Brandon

  7. Hi, I have been trouble shooting my start-up smoking problem for my 505 diesel (XD2)-non turbo

and have been advised about the possibility of a leaking injector.

I have run across three different injector nozzle replacements:

All Three Bosch numbers are: 0434250067, 0434250077, and 04342500100.

Does anyone know if there are actual differences between the nozzles? They all show working

for the 2.3 2304 cc diesel (non-turbo) this is what I have right?

when I am looking at western hemisphere it says the 04342500100 is the correct # for a 505, but I am curious

if I can use the the 0434250077

I have some 0434250077 Bosch nozzles from an 1978 504 diesel, so my major concern is, can I use these on my 505 diesel without damaging something. are these just production numbers or do the correspond to psi or something more serious like that?

Thanks for any advice or resources!

  8. This seems highly possible, and maybe would explain why the car runs great with zero smoke after the first ten minutes. How do I test this? or should I just go ahead and replace the injector nozzles?

    Thanks.

you sure its not a leaking injector? when you shut it off it drips slowly into the cylinder so you have to burn it off when you start it

  9. The brand: Group7 also known as Purolater. And yes I have had a couple of people tell me that they fit the XN6 and XN1 gas engines. Obviously I am newbee, but excited about getting my 505 diesel going!

If anyone would like these filters give me a call or reply to the post with contact info.

    Thanks again.

  10. Hello All,

By accident I ordered 20 of the wrong freaking oil-filters from an online dealer for my Peugeot 505 (non-turbo diesel).

They are brand: Group7 #V4619, and will fit most Peugeot 505's From 82-87 turbo diesel.

Cross Reference with: Hastings LF391, NAPA 1626, Fram PH3985, etc.

    I have a 505 (XD2) non-turbo :(

    Major Bummer but, oh well.

I will sell for $3.50ea. or if someone will take all 20 then $65.00 -or best offer.

Give me a call if anyone is interested. Thanks

  11. Great. I will start with the pump timing and see if that helps. Also, as another tidbit of confusion, I noticed that if I have someone start the car for me I can see that the inline fuel filter starts out full of diesel then gets really low while the engine is running rough? the filter slowly refills while the engine gets warmer?

I should say here that all fuel lines have been replace and a new seal put in the fuel/water separator.

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks Again Rabin

    Hi Brandon,

The only thing I've read is to mark the pump and the adjustment bracket, then move the pump 3mm closer to the engine to advance the timing to see if that helps the situation.

I would go to the yahoo groups and join the Peugoet-L group - then do some searching there for diesel advise. Brian Holm was the one that gave that advise - so you might want to contact him direct as well. (See vendor section on this forum for contact info.)

Please verify the 3mm pump timing tip too - like I said - I just try to pay attention and I don't have any hands on experience.

  12. Thanks Rabin,

I am new fairly new to diesels, especially peugeot. have worked on my old mercedes 300D some...

-glow plugs get hot, and light indicator works.

-I adjusted the valves about 13k miles ago, with no sign of less smoking.

    -compression check was good

-I have replace all rubber fuel lines.

I have some questions about timing though: what would be the best way to check timing?

and can timing cause a bad start idle then run perfectly after a 10 minutes?

I am planning to pull out the injectors soon and check for heavy carbon build-up

Any other suggestions on things I should look for? or injector timing procedures?

    Thanks

    Hi Brandon,

From what I've gathered from others you need to verify:

    1. Glow plugs are good
    2. Pump timing is in spec
    3. Valves are properly adjusted
    4. And that you have good compression.

Failing that - I've also heard smoke on start up may just be a symptom if the engine has sat a long time and you're just getting it running again. In that case they suggest you run it for a while to ensure all the systems are thoroughly worked out.

Others will chime in as well I'm sure. From what you describe though - I'd guess that the glow plugs or the glow plug circuit is at fault.

I just pay attention to the diesel talk as I'd love to get a diesel someday for myself... :)

  13. Hello All,

I have an 81' 505 non-turbo diesel (XD2)120k miles, that has really bad smoking and idling issues on start-up.

engine starts quickly, but immediately smokes bad, really bad, for about 10 - 15min: Engine and smoke clear off and the car runs great most of the day, unless it sits for more than 5 hours.

Does this sound like a bad injector or pump issue, timing, etc. ? thanks
