  1. Right. So it seems I may have "fixed" my wife's wagon. With the simple flip of a switch I'm now getting 12v's once again to the IG module. Yep.....that's right. Dorks are us. The alarm system I thought I'd disabled years ago.....and kinda forgot was there.....apparently cuts off the ignition. This would explain why when it would start it seemed to "time out" rather predictably and then not start again until after a period of wait. I know nothing about alarm systems other than we don't really need one and they can be rather annoying. Nevertheless, I can now move on to other things on the big, fat, hairy, scary to do list that is my existence.....lol! Okay, gents. I'll be in touch with requested stuff very soon.
  2. HA! Thanks! Actually, it's been a good car overall. Almost 100k and this is really the first problem it's had. So, not bad. It's a '91 model before things got wackier with overly complex computerized systems. Seems the problem is lack of voltage to the ignition control module. Only about .2v getting to it with the key on/engine off. Not sure, but I suspect the ignition switch.
  3. Well, my apologies, guys. Pics didn't happen today. Still trying to fix my wife's Buick wagon...still don't know what the problem is. As well, my chainsaw gave me some troubles that had to be dealt with so we could stay warm. Since I'll be working in the neighboring town all weekend, I'll have to get the pics Monday.
  4. Say, do you think there's any demand for the engine and transmission in this car? The engine is sound when it was running as well as the tranny.
  5. Okay, Rabin. I've started looking into shipping options and costs. I can arrange smaller packages to be shipped from where I work in the neighboring city and large ones....probably...from the nearby auto/body shop near my home. It's like a mile away. I can't do any of this from my home since we're out in the sticks without any real identifiable address....ie, no real road signs or mail boxes. We have a PO Box and only county road signs where we live. Plus, the kicker is mail trucks negotiating our road. Bigs hills equal stuck trucks....hehehe. I laugh everytime a Fed Ex van is unlucky enough to get lost and then dumb enough to come down our way. Anyway, it's been dumping rain all day. Looks like it's going to continue through tomorrow, too. May not be until Friday I can get can any pics taken for what you gentlemen have asked. Thursday we'll be gone a better part of the day acquiring donated critter food. Then, there's the unloading once we get it home. It'll be dark by the time I'm done with that. Yadda yadda yadda..... Onward through the fog!
  6. Rabin... Well, I was kind of afraid of that. I mean parting out might be kinda slow going with the seasonal weather....ie, working around the rain and cold. OTOH, it's easier than trying to troubleshoot and fix something. So, that would be a relief. So, okay......I'll part it out. But, I don't have any idea what would be fair prices for me or a prospective buyer. I could use advice on that. Maybe just type in google key words and see what parts sell for....that sorta thing? Plus, I'll need some help identifying what parts in question are in some cases. The moulding you ask of.....if it's what I believe you're referring to, I believe I also have that as a new spare part bought by the original owner before me and then given to me with the exchange of the vehicle. ahing6.... I don't have any pics of the bumpers, yet, but once it's stops raining I can get them.
  7. whether or not to fix up or sell as is. Either way, I need to sell it. It needs some definite work, but it may wind up sitting a good while longer before I have time for that. I really need to let it go to a new home ASAP. A Pug list member recommended I come here and ask for the advice. Needs new front struts or rebuilt, needs the wiring loom repaired from steering column to engine/headlights/etc. It caught fire a couple years ago, so I parked it. At the time, nothing else was damaged; headlights worked, just not sure on the heater. Kinda scared to try. It caught fire when I turned the heater on while the headlights were on. Jump to present day and now it won't start. The key won't activate the fuel pump and the pump DOES work. Otherwise, the engine turns over fine. Maybe some crucial wires were compromise in the fire and have now corroded? Don't know. This non start issue is only recent. I've kept it started about every month since I parked it. My dilemma is if I should really make the time to fix it all up so it does run....if it's worth it. I mean, if I could really get that much more for it running considering everything else. Interior's in good shape, but the body needs some rust treatment and the floor pan is dinged up from rough roads. As well, the sun roof leaks despite having cleared the drain tubes. Maybe a tube kinked up during reinstall....not sure. I've simply run out of time and money to do much else with this baby unless it'd really be worth it. Otherwise, I'll just sell it to the highest bidder even if it's a salvage yard......which I really, really, really do not want to do. Sweet car! Here's some pics: I have more and can take more pics, if need be. Also, I have replacement bumpers, trim, and rear spoiler for this car for sale. I'll need to get some pics of all that, but price advise is also requested. Thank you kindly in advance! Matthew
  8. Hello folks. Been a while. The pics haven't happened, yet. Been on the camera for eons now. So long they may have a life of their own.... BTW, the relay kit and air filter thing have been performing very well. No issues. Sorry the pics aren't up, yet, though. How flaky of me.
  9. Wow.....hadn't been back here in a while. Thanks for the reply and the compliment. I have both Uma and G (Bo's 405 Mi16) at home, now. I brought G home just over a month ago. She's going to need a new clutch (most likely), the new interior parts installed that Bo had gotten (dash and trimmings), and some paint resto. Oh, and the sunroof cable kit installed. So far, Uma's been running good. A little issue had surfaced a couple of weeks ago while on a trip to Memphis, TN (from Winslow, AR.....my home)..........throwing a code 4 (and once a 6) and showing intermittent idle symptoms. But, I read where a fellow cleaned all the connections and that did the trick. I think the plug wires need replacing, too. Says Bougicord on them. Wondering if they are the originals after 141k +. Uma has some parts Bo got for her........like mudflaps (which I want to install) and rear spoiler and some body trim. The spoiler thing won't happen. It's a little to big for my liking. Looks odd, to me. Anyway, a little rust work on her, too. Yeah, I'm probably somewhere between the A and B type personality. I like to keep 'em up and running and looking good, but the overly A tendencies are not my bag. IOW, I'm not going to get anal about them so they're immaculate. Just fix them both up and maintain them well. I'm really, really enjoying Uma. I'm in love with that car....lol. (Know the Queen song?) I'm sure G's going to be a blast, as well. And, Belinda......well, it was a hard decision for her, but she'd rather see them go to me than have them rot. I think she's even toying with the idea of getting another 505 (5spd, this time), but we'll see how that goes. She loves the 505's immensely.
  10. Got the pics, just didn't have time get all uploaded and do the write up thing. Also, got the adapter made for the air filter, but not completely happy with how it turned out. Designed worked fine, but the materials need improvement. Sturdier ones. Mud flaps were missing some hardware. Must do some fabbing or something. No bath, either....haha. Shooting for this week.......weather permitting.
  11. I only got as far as the kit installation..........and, new battery cable......today, and wasn't able to get pics. It was too cloudy for sufficient light. The flash just made everything glare. So, Friday the sun is supposed to come out. I'll have the adapter and pics by then. Gosh.......maybe the car will even get a bath by then....lol. Shooting for the mud flaps install, too. We'll see.
  12. Thank you kindly. If it's within my abilities to do so, yes. Doing something right the first time doesn't mean you'll never have problems later, but it sure makes it easier to eliminate a cause. Plus, it's a good excuse to stand back and smoke my pipe with a hearty grin.
  13. Hello again, Picked the 505......"Uma".....a little while back. Have a couple of details to iron out on her. Hoping to have some pics up soon.
  14. Thanks for taking the time to view, anyway. But, the issue is resolved. Got my hands on the factory wiring diagram. Madhu is a gentleman. Props. Also, I'll be making an adapter plate for the factory airbox to fit for a 505 turbo foam filter. Price difference in filters is daunting. When I have made the adapter this week........and installed the wiring kit...I'll post results if anyone might be interested. Pics to come, as well.
  15. Hello all, I finally picked up the 505 (noted in my introductory posts in the 505 forum) a few weeks ago and need to install this wiring update kit. I've posted on the Peugeot L list, but for some reason the replies I've made to the thread I started will not show up. I could wait until that's resolved, I suppose, but I'm dying of curiosity on this matter. Plus, gathering opinions from different sources has always proven well. Here is where I am currently at on figuring this out>>>>> I've been informed by the PO that the ignition is all brand new. This only leaves the relay issue to be resolved. Also, Brian Holm of Peugeotholm informed me there's a 13pg TSB on this wiring update. Would anyone have a copy of that? The more I look and think about this kit, the more I'm thinking this thing has to go inline/before the original starter relay (SR)as opposed to being a stand alone swap out. Here are some pics supplied by the PO of the update kit. Sorry they are so large. They are links, but you can reduce your browser's screen display to view them better. I don't know what else to do for them: http://www.505turbo.com/forum/index.php?ac...post&id=948 http://www.505turbo.com/forum/index.php?ac...post&id=949 Obviously the grey connector/red wire coming from the new relay (NR)connector goes to the junction directly off the battery pos. side...the 12V feed. One wire.....also coming from the NR connector (grey, IIRC, and small)is for ground, and the other is the green wire with a yellow connector on one end. The other end of the green wire has a female terminal too large to fit into the NR connector, but it's identical to the SR connector terminals (or ignition, as I believe the manual calls it). Soooo........I'm inclined to think that the green wire female term. Goes to the SR connector and the yellow connector goes to the solenoid. The ground......also with the SR style terminal... Must also go the SR. I think this would resolve the key/ignition switch issue I've had trouble figuring for into the equation. It's already there within the SR assembly. Now I just need to know which pins on the SR are what......I think. Hehe..... I'd appreciate any help anyone can offer on this kit. I have looked around for detailed instructions, but either a link was no longer valid or the info didn't quite match for the kit.........that sort of thing. What I've determined and described here is from my having used some applied logic and basic electrical knowledge I already have from working on Toyotas. Therefore, I'm not sure if what I've gathered is even on the right path entirely. Thanks
