  1. One reason is at they did use those 7 seated for Taxi's here and usually those where best diesel versions they could have. Gasoline versions vere usually ordered and used one religion group which have usually many kids. :P So thats basic reason they are (where) used here.

  2. V-M: We definitley won't be getting rid of any current posts. We have a lot of great info, and I don't want that to go anywhere.

I've thought of sorting some of the general posts to more specific threads after they are setup, but this is going to break any bookmark, etc.. The forum does have a great search feature, but....

I like Bean's idea on the seperate threads for different series Peugeot's, as well as a thread dedicated to performance tuning and upgrades.

I would still like to see what other people have to say. :)

Maybe I did put my words wrongly? :o I ment just add one topic with someting like: Other pug models etc. And keep rest 505 turbo consentrated. IMHO

  3. - Usually distributor cap (check at in the middle is carbon pin on place) ,

    - that "what ever that name is" inside of distributor which is rotating

    - spark cables

    - and most usually one "amplifier" which is connected to distributor (Small Bosch box ending -123). Sorry I don't know right names for those.

  4. Basically. USA, Switzerland and Sweden did have some emission limitations in -87 and -88 models. But USA versions have some different setups like exhaust and some other ones. Switzerland and Sweden did have emission limitations -> EGR was added in -85 models allready and hp was bit lower on those models. And catalysator was added in -88 models. Like in Finland catalysators and EGR:s were reguired from -90 onwards.

  5. 87' had like 140hp while the 88' had closer to 180, correct?

N9TE has 160hp (some year did have 180hp)

    N9TEA has 180hp

In my knowledge there is no bigger turbo? Some did have different extruder but size is same?

-88 did have speed controlled steering (maybe also in -87), same basic boost setting but elect. valve wich rices boost for short time if temperature, knocking etc... things are correct. Thorsen diff.

  6. Amaai manneke, dus gij spreekt wel Vlaams?

I'm wondering if you understand this, because I'm from Holland I know a bit Flemish. Now a days I'm living in France, so French isn't too difficult for my either. But to speak Finnish is really another story. ;)

By the way, http://www.peugeotforum.nl is the dutch forum of all peugeots with a lot of pictures. Although it is dutch, you can visit every page as a guest. When you registered you can start an English topic. They will always try to help you and answer in English.

    Hi,

Not so well any more :D, No speaking since -99 :D

My wife was living at the same time in Den Haag and I was there nearly every weekend.

That was good time, I did like people and visited those hobby market happenings around that area.

And did some discutions with Opel Manta hobbyists in NL. My wife speaks dutch better than me flemish B)

  7. Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to drive a Torsen equipped 505. :-( They are extremely rare in Finland, I think.

This one have it -> Red -88 but It's only 88 one in Finland, imported from Sweden in -89. Leather interior, "ABS", speed sensing steering. etc... It will be nice also in future. I talked with current owner today and he is building it carefully. Owner is 68 year old man who has 404 diesel familiare for use car and wanted real car for old days hobby :)

  8. I understand price considerations but if you're going to buy heavier aftermarket Volvo springs are these much cheaper than aftermarket 505 springs? I can see that the factory Merc springs could be found cheap at a wrecker though.

Basically, those volvo springs are stronger and cheap (new ones -> 20 euros/pair) There was no 505 front springs available, but I did buy 505 rear springs in same price. I'm not looking best solution in my projects, just following my motto -> Most bang for the buck! And other thing is at those volvo springs fits nicely in original palace and with those modified shocks it should function correctly (not tested yet).

  9. very interesting!! V-M: are you using aftermarket front 240 springs, or stock? and what about rear MB 190 springs, stock? i'm surprised they are heavier then stock 505 turbo springs!

are the koni adjustable rear shocks specifically for the 505 turbo, or are they for another car? We've tried multiple rear shocks, and nothing (as of yet) seems to be as stiff as the OEM's. :D

Aftermarket 240 springs and original MB springs, Those mercedes ones are real killers (you will see, I'll take some pictures all of those).

Those are really for 505 and 604 (There is label in original box, and also original sales papers for garanti also followed from year -92) and fits nicely. I know that "all" aftermarket ones sucks, at least those normal priced ones.

  10. Sorry, I was refering to using 505 non-turbo swaybars ie 27mm front (GTi) and 19mm/20mm (604) rear swaybar. A company hear in Australia also makes 27mm/20mm swaybars for 505s with urethane(?) bushings - "K-Mac". Do not know if these will fit the turbo 505.

The Volvo 240 front springs - they are heavier and lower the 505 too? Is not the spring on the Volvo flat-bottomed whereas the 505 is not? And do the Merc 190 springs need to be cut?

Also some have said heavier shocker oil harms the shocker somehow. Is this true? Has anyone tried the heavier oil?

I am planning to make my own strut bar as I havent been able to find any for sale.

Volvo springs needs to be cut and same for MB springs. Too thich oil will harm any strut, but using special strut oils there is no probs (maybe only here in -C degrees can be brobs with thick oil).

  11. Here is my recepie:

    - In front Volvo 240 series springs, and modified original shocks. Shock valve manipulation and oil change to new original oil (available still and not expencive) or use different grade like dirt bike shock oil.

    - In back heavy duty 505 springs or MB 190 rear springs. Koni adjustable shock's with helper spring (these are rare, I know) I have two sets of these and these were available in 10years ago.

I think front swaybar is ok but rear is totally too soft and needs some upgrade, one turbo owner here is trying to find manufacturer for these turbo "chassis connections" urethane rubber (eurothane?). As you know those two connection rubbers at each side? Turbo has different rear ones! It's 1,5cm longer than other models!

  12. Hey guys,

With the help of my lovely wife who speaks and reads French fairly well - I was able to join the French forum site: http://forum.aceboard.net/index.php?login=21253

I was hoping to gain access to see some pictures at least - and hopefully see if anyone spoke english - but no luck.

Apparently the good bits (Photos, videos) require a paid membership of some sort, and the rules of the site say that all posts have to be in French. You can not use your name, or give your address either.

I was kinda hoping to at least see some pictures or cool video's - but no such luck. I was also hoping to see if I could get more info on Heligon's race car - some engine build info, or even some performance stats would be great.

I'm curious how much an ex-production car would go for - a buddy can get good deals on containers shipments - so bringing a car over would be about $900 - $1000 CDN. That'd be so much cheaper and easier to by an ex-super touring 505...

    Later...

    Rabin

I hope this will turn some good :D

At least bit better than my try in this forum Francuas. Okay okay maybe I was bit pissed off (but I have been there , working with them, and lived in french area in Brussels 1.5years)
