  1. Hi Mike, I should've clarified in my last post, however the subject was also covered very early in my thread, the front shocks are still original Peugeot. I expressed much surprise that after 170,000 miles the original shocks could still be good, but they have great rebound and they are not leaking, so I stuck with your guys suggestion, and I am glad I did so...
  2. Took the Mi16 out for about a couple hours this evening, still running great. One thing I think I might want to do is the front LCA bushings. They are the only thing I did not replace when I redid my front end this year (for no particular reason other than looking like they might be annoying to do). While the handling is great, it takes the bumps more harshly than I would think it should. Maybe that's just the way they are. Regardless, extremely pleased with where the car is at. As we roll into the cold season, I intend to drive it as often as possible throughout, so long as the roads are clear...
  3. Good deal. I'd also read through my entire thread, you might find some good value in the logic steps we went through to get my car right, as I'm sure your car will have many of the same issues mine had from sitting... Also, the guys on this forum are incredibly knowledgeable, they will help you get there for sure...
  4. Thank you, Jayden. I just started following your thread as well, you will get there, just stick to it. Injectors were a big culprit of my running issues after my car sat for a bit, I suggest you pull them out and have a really good look at them, you can have them ultrasonically cleaned for probably about $20 each...
  5. This morning was the last cars and coffee of the season, my friend Jack (and the guy I bought my car from) came out with his '92 Mi16. We were amongst the rarest of the cars there...took these as the event was wrapping up, was actually a good turnout...
  6. Took the car out again last night, it continues to run/drive great, hard to believe that now when I drive it I don't even (gulp) think about the CEL coming on anymore??? I know, famous last words...
  7. I agree, I don't think blending will be necessary, but I will leave that to my paint guy to determine…
  8. Goce, that looks amazing, beautiful color too. I'm not sure if he'll be blending into the fenders, he didn't mention it, but he's a great painter, so I'm not too worried about it. Will update when I know better though...
  9. The paint is what I would call good and original, very nice patina. Good enough to leave, as if I start painting too many parts, then deciding where to stop can get tricky. I actually very much like the current state of the paint, and am only painting the hood because it is the only part of the car that has been repainted already. I also don't want it to be too nice, where I have to constantly worry about nicks and chips - I've made that mistake before with my black MR2. The paint on that car is almost too nice for what I want to do with my cars these days, which is drive them first, then take them to the occasional show, etc. after...
  10. Looking to have the hood painted in about 2 weeks, excited...
  11. Thanks guys, we will see how a few more applications make it, but I'm pleased with it so far... It's weird, I'm running out of jobs to do on the car, ha... I did however speak to my paint guy today, going to have him repaint the hood soon to match the rest of the paint, which is all original, so at least the car will be one color again...
  12. I think it is more of a color fill, but will read the tub again when in front of it. I'm sure it has some other positive effects too. Leather feels about the same...
  13. Little interior project, involving some leather furniture balm... My 30 year old leather, while still nicely intact, has suffered from some prior ownership bolster wear on the driver's seat. When I went to visit the previous owner, he gave me some old leather balm from when he had owned the vehicle. Decided to give it a try yesterday. While the seats will never look new again, the results are great for how easy it was. Going to give it a few more applications and see where it ends up...
  14. Yeah, it was fun, took him for a ride, he seemed impressed. And good point on seeing 3 405's in one place, certainly not common anymore these days…
  15. Well, had my first real shakedown run with the car today, a ~250 mile round trip to visit the gentleman that sold me the car several years ago. I think he was pleased to see his old car in it's current shape (he still has a '92 Mi16 and a '90 Sportwagon). The car performed flawlessly and rolled over 175K miles on the journey, very fitting...
  16. My first experience in a Peugeot was when I was in high school, probably around the year 2000. A friend of mine in my shop class knew someone who had a 505, I think it was a turbo, but all I remember was that it was the middle of winter, and he took us around for a ride, thrashing the hell out of it. It seemed really fast, however he was really wringing it out. I was a Peugeot fan long before this, but this really made me like them a lot. As a serial car nut, I'm certain I'd pick one up if it happened to fall into my lap...
  17. You guys are making me start to reconsider this no Mi16 in the winter thing, ha... Funny story though, for many years of my 20's, my winter car was an MR2 (neither of my current ones, I've had several over the years), and never had so much fun driving in the winter. There's something to say about sports cars with the proper tires in winter...
  18. All joking aside, I would actually pick up another Mi16 given the opportunity, but with so few of these left, I would feel obligated to save it as opposed to put it through a buffalo winter...
  19. Ha, that looks like a lot of fun...maybe if I pick up another one someday...but not my current one...however I am open to the idea if another one comes along...
  20. I have a Honda Civic for winter, the Mi16 will never see winter again. Furthermore, I think it has only seen 2-3 winters in it's lifetime, and this was years before I had owned it. It's in great shape underneath and I intend to keep it that way... And thank you, it has been a fun 6 months learning about this car and bringing it into it's current state. It is becoming on every of my favorite cars in my line up to drive...
  21. Ha, that's nice to hear, but I won't allow myself to ever think a 30 year old french car with 170K miles could ever be THAT reliable...but I agree with you that a well maintained and serviced car (which mine certainly is now) certainly will keep you from breaking down too much...either way, I'm very pleased with where the car is at now, so hopefully just little stuff going forward... Until of course next year when I have to re-do the timing belt again since the cam seals decided to start leaking on me not long after this last belt...
  22. Good to see the form back up and running. My car is continuing to run well, should have a couple more months of driving season still ahead, will continue to update as we go…
  23. Thanks for this info., I did not know all of this, so glad to be here with you guys, it is a wealth of knowledge for sure... It's also cool to have another car in my stable where the motor has so much racing pedigree (the Esprit and S2000 have it in droves, whereas the MR2's and even the Evora to some extent have more pedestrian motor designs)...
  24. Took another long drive last yesterday, oil temps. were a little higher this time, closer to the dash after 190 (assumed to be around 228) prob. running around 220ish for the duration of the drive. Higher than the other night, but again still a "good" temperature to run at...
