1991 405 MI 16 ac push button not working, help

I had the ac on today, when I tried to push the button off it would not shut down. The light was on. After a few tries, and shutting down the engine, It finally shut off. But now when I push the button it just does not turn on. No yellow light. Any help would be appreciated.Thanks in advance
