  1. Thanks so much! I will print them today and give it a go this evening! You da man!!!!!
  2. Thanks again Jeff. Really appreciate it! I did some tweeking on my pump timing and that help from an acceleration standpoint. I have been toying with the idea of some of the tweeks listed in this thread as well. Be nice to be able to pass someone on my country roads! Cheers guys!!!! Rick
  3. Yikes! I don't want to have to drop the pan!!! Yeah if you guys could post that it would be great! Thanks so much!!!!
  4. Hey Brian, sorry haven't been on in a while. Yeah I need one. Can you send me a PM and we can work out price and shipping? THX Rick
  5. Hey Rabin, do you have the specs for the trans cable adjustment? mine is pitifully slow. I was reading this thread some time back, thinking of tweeking my pump, but it sounds like a trans shift cable adjustment is also in order. big thanks!! Rick
  6. Hello all, looking for a working 505 3 position interior light found on the overhead console, inside c pillars of rear in a wagon. I have one that is toasted. Please PM me for price, and payment method. Thanks......Rick
  7. Great discussions going on here. So, my last job netted me some very cool aluminum radiator/heat exchanger weldments, my first thought was intercoolers! The are about 36" by 10" (roughly guessing as it s cold out) and very nicely constructed. Anyways, my question is how big do the openings need to be to feed enough air to diesel engine? The main drawback of these are the openings are about 2" hose connections and it seems to me that may restrict airflow......? I've got like 3 or 4 of them....
  8. Thanks Bill! Turns out the heater control valve is the culprit, luckily I have my buddy who lives and breathes 505's, he gave me another core and valve, and a working blower too and diode. Good thing too as its 28 degrees today! Now who know show to work on oil fired furnaces cause mine just quite!! Cheers all!
  9. Happy Thanksgiving all! Well, yet another problem plagues my 505......yesterday on the way to work, the cabin filled with steam. First thought was heater core but after some searching here, I am wondering if maybe the heater control valve may have left the building. I will be crawling under the dash in the next couple days to investigate. I did manage to find a couple listings for heater cores still available out there in the world so I thought i'd share them with the rest of the forum. nissens p/n 72940 thru rockauto.com still available valeo p/n 883674 still listed at rockauto but currently back ordered On another note, I am dragging home a 73 504 sedan (gas automatique) today, fellow was selling it for scrap locally so I have to go save another one! Said it was a runner but poorly, found a snapped bolt on the intake manifold and stopped there. We'll see if we can get it back on the road again. Rabin, do we have a central repository for p/n info we dig up? take care all!! Rick of Orphan Acres in St Paul Oregon.
  10. Nope, still different, I'll snap a shot and post it.......
  11. Hey Bill, I should have you covered, I have the XD2 non-turbo pump I got on ebay (Andre, not bad advice at all !!! I always appreciate your guys help with these) and I have whats left of the one that came off mine. Either way I am sure I can help, and I am just south of Portland. PM me at [email protected] for some help. Rick
  12. Hi Rabin, Sorry for the delayed response, been off in Jag and TR7 forums too dealing with my British cars. This still has the 3 speed trans. John in Hebo was not able to identify the shifter select assy as anything he had seen before. It is missing the facia that covers it. I was hoping to find a correct entire assembly to replace it.........
  13. Yeah, I bought it, seller was convinced it came off his running 82 TD. I ended up getting a pump from my local guru I had bought the car from so I have a non-turbo pump for anyone needing one.
  14. well, like the topic says, I need a usable pump. My is toast (again), I attempted to replace seals and just dont want to say what happened....any ways, if anyone has one could you let me know? My pug is sitting till I get another one. Big thanks!!!!! Rick
  15. Hey all, I have what I believe to be a later model shifter plate in my 505TD, looking for correct facia and shifter plate under it, anyone help???? Big thanks...Rick
  16. OK!! Success!!! So I did the diesel purge per the MB site instructions, began running civillay amost instantly. With that being the case I ruled out valves, pump setting and compression so only fuel was left. It occured to me the Roto filter has a banjo bolt and fitting on it so I removed the filter assy, cleaned it all out and cracked the banjo bolt and the fitting was full of crap! Claened all components, pumped the filter purge and ran the car hooked up to the rest of the bottle of diesel purge, ran great and fired right up. Because the fuel sender casing had rotted to little pieces of rusty crap, my fuel system was full of it up to the filter assy. All parts stores are closed now but I have 3 new filters on order and I will put another in front of the Roto to catch the big chunks that may be left from my "vacuuming" of the tank. Big thanks Rabin for all the help!!!!!! Rick PS: any thought of aquiring another fuel sending unit????
  17. Hey Rabin, thanks for always being on point with issues, always appreciated. So the bowl filling with water, so far has been just the once that I have noticed. I did pull the rear carpets, pull the sending unit and fuel feed and return port and I used an old pump I had to "vacuum" out the tank on saturday. I had discovered, along with some water in the tank, the sending unit "splash guard" had completely rusted apart and I managed to suck most of that contamination out as well. I blew out the feed and return lines too, so the bowl is not fillinf with water anymore, but the poor running issue persists. I dumped a bottle of fuel dryer into the taank hoping to get it to the pump. All at John in Hebos suggestion........Any thoughts on purging the pump? Currently the car is sitting as I cannot drive it far with out loosing power and it stalling.......grrrrrr
  18. Hi Guys, So I have been reading some of the posts regaring lose of power and smoke, and there is a lot of info that is appreciated here. My problem most likey falls under these posts but I have an added twist I need some help with so here goes: Car began loosing power the other day and stalling, would start back up after several cranks but power would flatten out and then die again after a short distance, heavy footing it would produce a lot of white smoke. When I got home and looked at the filter bowl (mine was replaced with I believe to be the 504 roto filter) I noticed the glass filter bowl was all water! I removed the filter, enmted the water, blew out the water from the filter and reassembled it all, same problem. I replaced the filter yesterday, same problem. I have always had a lot of smoke on start up, and I have some smoke coing from the right side of the motor on hard starting as well, but usually on first start of the day. I am running some additive in the tank to loose the water in the tank. The car had sat for many years and when I got it, had no fuel cap, so I suspect the rainy pacific northwest has made it to the fuel tank. Because its a wagon, I understand ther is no drain for the tank so I guess I need to pump it all out and try to dry the tank, next suggestions on this one? As always, you guys rock and I am always gratefull for the advice and direction...... Rick in St Paul Oregon
  19. Thats kind of what I was thinking, I figured collapsing them the roughly the distance of the filler panels (silver/gray) on top of the bumper would surfice. On a side note, the glass fuel bowl on my filter broke the other day after I had removed it to drain what turned out to be a filter full of water out. John in Hebo had replaced the filter housing with what I assume is a 504 assy that removed a problematic diaphram. I did manage to purchase a pair of NOS bowls off of ebay for $20/pair, just waiting for them to show up. I am wondering if I now have water in the injection pump and how best to purge it....?I thought they had a drain on them but have not had a chance to further investagate that.......
  20. I have been wondering if any has tried to relocate thier bumpers to gain the euro look? I have briefly studied the 5 mph shocks and suspect they could be discharged and collapsed.....any thoughts? Anyone try yet?
  21. Hey Tommy, Thanks so much for the last parts you sent, you rock!!! New request, wagon drivers side tail light, The one I got had some cracks/holes in it, got any better ones?
  22. Hey Bean, So to follow up on this saga.......I had found the info to replace the rear injector pump seal, pretty easy as far as I could tell, turns out not so much. Had my son, a certified diesel mechanic to prefrom the operation. Well, needless to say it was a disaster. We turned to pump into junk. Bought another VE pump from a nice fellow in Washington state. Installed new pump and could not get car to run, burp fart, nothing. Last ditch effort, craigs list ad for local Pug diesel expert wanted. Fellow craigslister sent me info on John in Hebo Oregon, what a guy he lives and breaths these things. A week at his place and he had done all the TD updates, had it purring, ok, clattering like a cheap swiss watch and I am now driving her back and forth to work getting average of 25MPG!!!! Love this car, what a pleasent ride!!!!! Cheers!!!! Oh, just turned 90K miles!!!!!!........how do I fix the darn tachometer?????
  23. Hey Rabin, We did, even verified we had fuel at the injector line into the injectors, but it just wont light off. It was a little hard to start before, but just a few extra cranks to get it running. Maybe glow plugs?!? Really hate to give up on it but if it sits outside again, it will turn into a POS and I hate to see that happen.I have a hot deep cycle battery freshly charged, I will try that today and see if maybe that helps.....
  24. 1984 505 Turbo Diesel Wagon w/89K orig miles $1000, car is in OK shape, no real rust to speak of except a few spots of surface stuff from sitting. Was a runner and driver but the injection pump was leaking and after replacing it, I am unable to time it. Just time to let it go. Ran like a champ, just leaked fuel. Overall its in good shape. It is located in St Paul Oregon, just 40 miles south of Portland. I can deliver up to 100 miles for a fee. Email me directly at [email protected] . I have a few pictures and can take more for serious buyers only please.
