  1. Spring is here again , so its time to bring out the classics from hibernation
  2. Here are some pictures from today And a bonus panorama picture i took on saturday , a small mountain lake in my hometown.
  3. Thanks ,i feel lucky to have it! I think the wrap could work just great for the doorhandles , i have pressure washed the car a couple of times sice i applied the wrap and it has gotten some strong sunlight and it seem to hold just fine , no slippage and no fade :-) so yeah i think it will work . You can get the wrap on ebay in different sizes .
  4. 2 pictures from yesterday In hindsight i should have kneeled down when taking the pictures so that didnt miss the top of the mountain, and i would have made smaller shadow..
  5. Vinyl wrap of faded matte black door paint . I decided to try my hand at vinyl wrapping the faded matte black areas on the doors. First some pictures of the areas . Only have pics of application on the left side of the car but its the same process . This is the first time i tried vinyl wrap First step was measuring everything and then i cut strips that i applied. Left rear door finished. Left front door finished . Im going to fix the spot by the wind screen , when i find the time B-pillar. The last little piece by the rear left door. Done.. That was all the pics i took during application , before i started i feard that it would be incredibly fiddly and that i would get a lot of bubbles , but as it turned out the wrap was a joy to work with , it streched real good and bubbles came out easily Pic of the right side after i was finished. The vinyl wrap i used was 3M 1080 Matte deep black M22
  6. Thinking of these incase the old ones are bad .. But are they good ?

  8. Is the knock sensor box in the passenger footwell ? i still haven found out why its not running smooth . So i decided to have a look at the AFM It was bit oily in that tract by the flap ( scracthes are from a mechanic trying the flap i think) Inside was nice and dry , but it had been opened before i think beacuse the glue was not original , i think it must be from when they(peugeot dealer) changed the camshaft many many years ago .. maybe they checked the afm before they found out it was the camshaft. Apparently there was a problem with he camshafts on these cars. I moved the feeler arm so that it got fresh material i followed this guide http://www.the944.com/afm.htm , its for porsche 944 but the bosch afms of the 80s are similar so it can be used here too Could my problem be this oil vapur hose connection on the intake hose be my problem ? looks like its sweating Thinking if it might be letting air in thats unmetered
  9. yeah apparently we are i think its fun to tinker with the car and come up with improvements that can be done without hurting originalty. i hope i can loctate a rhd set of rails with time . I did buy the handle plastic from ebay though NOS , i couldnt resist Cost me 10 usd , so now i ifnd a seat or rails and the handle is worn or damaged i have new one I mean what are the odds for finding one , thats why i just snapped up it when i saw it. I tried to take out the pass. seat today to have a look at what the underside looks like , the mechanics of it. But on the first twist of the ratchet wrench it felt like the nut on the underside came loose so im not sure what to do now ..And i cant get to it beacuse its in the floor. Thought the nut was supposed to be welded on the underside.. any thoughts? In other news i still haven found out why its not running smooth ( i have a topic here on that as you know) . 10. Yeah the wind noise is somewhat annoying , but i can live with it 505 turbo coupe would be sweet , have you seen the coupe concept car? I think the c-pillars look strange on that car , they should have used the sedan c pillar One mod i have been wanting to do is swapping the "undercarriage" on the front passenger seat for one from a rhd driver seat .. So that both seats are height/tilt adjustable , beacuse you sit a bit high in the passenger seat in the 505 ... The provlem is locating a rhd drivers seat hehe.
  11. I have looked alot on various ebay sites for those mouldings, but never found any , have also found it can be expensive to trawl ebay with "peugeot 505 NOS" as search criteria hah. Pictures would be great ! , cutting the gutters off would make it look wierd wouldnt it ? I I mean the windowframe on the door might protude(correctly spelt?) from the roofline i think . Im a bit conservative with the mods i do to the car , i make sure that what i do can be reversed to stock easily Peugeot only made 9500 copies of the version i have ,you know
  12. Yeah im leaning more towards clear coat touchup and wetsand->polish. As for the gutter mouldings im pretty unsure about what to do with them they aren't pretty ,but im worried that it might look like somethings missing if i take them off ..
  13. Thanks Rabin , i love working on the car , its quality time to me haha I not sure what i will do with those scratches yet. They are deep , but have not gone trough the clear coat .. maybe just as you said wetsand ,but instead just slightly and just painting with clear coat . Not too worried though ,would have been worse if they had gone trough the clear coat , beacuse then it could start rusting.. Thanks andré A little off topic but i got to drive an 86 e class mercedes with the 3.0l I6 , and while the I6 iwas very smooth indeed , it could not match the 505 for ride quality. Not by far , the 505 truly is a gem overlooked by most , but loved by those who know and own them
  14. Update. Took an exterior shine on the car today ,thought i should post it here. The goal was to bring up the shine and remove most of the scratches, but I had to leave some scratches beacuse they were quite deep. Did not take pictures during the washing unfortunately, but it went like this: The car was soaked in surfex hd 1:15(degreaser) for about 6-7 min, then korrosol( particle remover) from the windows and down as well as the wheels and i finised with a hand wash. Just wahsed. Dried the car with compressed air and a drying towel. Started masking the body mouldings so that i did not get polish on them. Some pictures of defects in the paint. I must add that it was difficult to capture defects on silver metallic paint with the phone camera. Scratches on right front door. Spot on the bonnet. Some bad scratches down on the dark gray part on the right front door and front wing. The only logical reason to me is that the previous owner has washed with a sponge and dropped it on the ground and continued using it. Started on the hood first with a Flex PE14 rotary polisher and 3M fastcut wich is a heavy rubbing compound . As you can faintly see on the picture it leaves patterns on the paint , this was easily removed with superfine polish. When I was done with the hood i started on the front right wing. Here is a kind of 50/50 bottom of the wing toward the door, the screen was as bad as the door. Got rid of most of the scratches, but the deepest had to be left (the spots on the door is in the paint ,not sand ) Got a little too focused on the car and the pictures became fewer. Here is the right door finished. Right side finished. That was it from the polishing, but I was simply a bit too eager and forgot to snap more .. Here I have started adding Swissvax Pneu(rubber conditioner) on rubber strips on doors and wings while the wax i just applied was cureing on the paint. Mouldings around the windows also get Pneu. The same with the tires. As you may see in the pictures the wheels are peeling a bit and have started to corrode slightly .. I plan to get them sandblasted and repainted. Plastic details such as bumpers, mirrors and various others got Polytrol( a great plastic rejuvinator with very good durability), one can barely make out an RDS that was too deep on the hood to the right of the lion. The wax lay on the paint while i applied polytrol and pneu and now it was time to buff it off. The wax was Swissvax Shield. Then came the rain , but itook two pictures of the car finished The next thing I intend to go at is the matte black field around the windows and doors, its quite worn and peeling so I ordered 3M 1080 matte black vinyl and thought to try it out.
  15. I do most of the work on my cars myself so im fairly capable with a wrench, but i would not do an engine overhaul or anything of that nature myself, im not that experienced :-) Anyway what i was thinking was turning up the boost a little, get a FMIC. But i suppose the is not much to get with just that without not adding more fuel too. And that means bigger injectors ? Or is it possible to get a little more fuel with the stock ones?
  16. Its not blinking , but i was unsure of its function beacuse a peugeot salesman i talked to a good while ago said that these cars , the euro ones at least they advance the ignition slightly when you give full throttle and when it does that the led is supposed to flash once... But i could be wrong as its a long time go i heard this
  17. Spark is good i think beacuse when you give full throttle there is plenty power. But is the little yellow ignition LED in the instrument panel supposed to flash when you giv full throttle? , beacuse it does not flash when i give full throttle.
  18. I started more sudden , but the car has always stuttered a little bit though. The car has had a camshaft replacement under warranty many many years, but not so may km ago so i dont think the cam is worn.. i followed a guide on youtube on how to refurb the Air Flow Meter and this helped a little , but it still stutters a bit when idling or when driving normaly with not so much press on the accel. pedal. And if i shift down and take my foot off the accel. pedal to slow down there is a little popping in the exhaust. I got 9.9 bar compression on all cylinders , did the test 3 times and the results were consistent.
