  1. For the overhaul (blown head gasket), I used a Murena 2.2 head gasket (by "Glaser").

    Works fine for me.

    The exhaust gasket is a different story: up to now, I use a Murena gasket (the one with 8 thread holes).

    I managed to order 2 original Curty exhaust manifold gaskets.

    They were still available (couple of months ago) via Federal Mogul.

    The part number is JC712.

    The Payen head gasket (via F-M) is part number BL610.

  2. I've had my Turbo treated with Dinitrol.

    Before they did that, the car was cleaned with pressurized hot water to remove all the goo.

    The car was left in a garage to dry for some days.

    Then they injected this waxy stuff as well as a new underbody coating.

    It's a brown waxy fluid.

    New holes were drilled to get access to difficult parts like the rear wheel arches.

    Unfortunately, I had to work at the fuel pump under the car after a few days so I was also covered with rust-protection...

    It did cost me 800 euros....

  3. Thanks for the responses.

    I indeed didn't mean the "flame" rings that are inserted between cilinder head and exhaust manifold.

    The ones that love to misalign when you just managed to get the manifold right :(

    I meant the o-ring that fits between the "other" end of the exhaust manifold and the turbo.

    Anyway: the suggestion of creating your own stainless-steel o-ring should work out just fine in case the ring's lost.

    If my memory serves me right the dimensions are (have to check):

    60mm OD

    53mm ID

    3.6mm high

  4. What other cars/vehicles do you have and drive? If you have photos share 'em.

    I have a 1982 SAAB 900 Turbo I use as my daily driver.

    The Saab is a damn pretty car!

    How does it compare to the Peugeot?

    My other form of transportation is a bike.

    You know: the Netherlands is a flat country so if we look out of the window at morning, we immediately know if any visitors will arrive during the rest of the day :(

  5. I'm 35 years old.

    It's my first Peugeot and I own it for 9 years now.

    My 1985 turbo was badly treated so I had to invest a huge amount of time to get it right.

    At the local Peugeot dealer they get worried when I don't appear for a month :(

    Fortunately I didn't arrive at the point that I had to choose between the wife and the car :D

  6. Last year I did a cilinder head overhaul.

    For the gaskets, I used the gasket set that's made by Glaser.

    It's a Spanish company that's part of the Dana company.

    The gasket set can be found under Talbot Murena, N2 coded engine.

    It's practically the same as the N9T*.

    Murena/Tagora gaskets fit nicely.

    The intake manifold gasket is paper, but it's ok.

    The valve cover gasket was teh cork one.

    You can also try at Auto Simon in Germany: he's specialized in Talbots.

    Anyway, the exhaust manifold gaskets are made of the head-gasket material.

    Seems to hold pretty good.

    It's mounted using the 8 studs that Talbots use.

    Does anyone have experience with the Mecaparts reinforced head gasket (ordering/using)?

  7. Hi Everybody,

    I'm a newbe on this forum though I drive my 1985 Turbo for 9 years now.

    Reading this forum I'm in awe about the huge amount of knowledge and experience.

    Having said that, can anyone tell me if the stainless-steel o-ring that fits between the turbo charger and the exhaust manifold has a useable replacement?

    The Peugeot code is 0374.02.

    For a brief moment I was thinking about a thin sheet of brass, but its melting point may be far too low.

    Suggestions are welcome.
