  1. Hello everybody,

Last weekend it was delivered to me by my brother in law from London: A 505 GR Familiale.

Such a 7 seater is not that rare, but it is when it's equiped with 4X4 Dangel tranmission. 7500 Dangels are made, but mostly commerciale and break version (2 and 5 seaters) for french governemental organizations. A few were built for the normal market, but hardly any familiales.

This one is even more rare because it is an English version, so with right hand drive. Only 3 Dangels are made in RHD and this is the only one still existing! Morevoer, it's in very good state. Very well maintained by an peugeot enthousiastic, only a bit of rust under the bonnet above the headlights but that's a frequent problem by 505's in wet parts of Europe.

My camera is broken at the moment, but pictures will follow.

Here's one from the seller's add:

  2. The electrical sunroof's on the 505's are known to be defect due to a broken cable between the motor in the trunk and the roof. It often happens and a new cable at a peugeot dealer in Europe costs more than 250 dollars. Hopefully you're motor doesn't work due to a broken electrical wire or whatever. These motors should be relative easy to find on scrap yards for example.

For everybody with a working electric sunroof: Peugeot developed a small clamp to enforce the cable where it is attached to the motor. It costs only a few dollars and you no longer risk to break the cable while operating the roof. If there are still Peugeot dealers in the USA they should be able to order them.

  3. Yeah, topic pretty much says it all. Looking for a used pair of European headlights

Looking for used b/c I cant pay the price of new-too expensive.

Also, tell me the price after shipping calculated to zip code: 94502.

    Thanks,

    Rob

    Hi Rob,

I can send you two from Europe for around $100 all included I guess. (Postage is the largest part)

  4. Wow!

That car looks really great and appears to be in good condition.

    Congrats to you!

Btw, is that the same rims that are on 505's?

    Thanks,

Yes, actually those are the 15'' rims of my 505 GTI! The rims of the 604 look exactly the same, but aare of size 390mm. It needs special TRX tyres which are very expensive. Luckily I had an extra set of wheels for the 505. :D

  5. Even more rare than a 505 in Holland and very hard to find in good condition is the 604. (I assume its the same in the states). Finally I found a turbo diesel from 1982 with hardly any rust. It has only done 150.000km and known the quality of these engines I have only to make sure that it doesn't rust away. :D

It has got a full service, I adapted it for vegetable oil and I took it directly to France for a trip of 3500km. No problems at all although I have done quite some mountain climbing with it. :D Here are some pictures:

  6. LPG? never heard of it here in the US.

well let's see, europe is what, 10 years ahead of america, so i hope we'll be seeing it by 2015

Well, in Holland LPG is popular since the oil crisis in the seventies. So we are a lot ahead. :D

It is some sort of compressed gaz in a high-pressure tank in your boot. It is applicable on petrol engines. Sometimes you have to start on petrol and switch to LPG, but some cars even start op LPG. It needs also some modifications to your engine.

In germany and some other countries it is uite normal to run your diesel engines on vegetable oil. This is also sold at some gaz stations. Needs some modifications too. I did that to on my 604 and the engine runs much smoother and more silent. Some people are even filtering used oil from restaurants to use in their cars!

pretty soon, Bmw will be selling a PRODUCTION Hydrogen Powered 7 series.

    Kinda strange though....

This is indeed a small thing still. I believe only one hydrogen station is opened in Holland, but I wonder how many cars are using it already.

I believe there are project in the US too. Aren't they making bio-ethanol somewhere in the central states, from corn?

  7. check out what else i found on eBay France....

    Evolution Bodykit!!

What a coincidence, I know this guy quite well. He is the treasurer of the Peugeot 505 club. He's living the extreme nord of France, a few hunderd miles from me. I have seen the car several times and it is almost in mint condition! He is equiped with LPG, liquified petrol gas. Does that exist in America? In Europe it becomes more popular due to the high gas prices. LPG costs only about $0.70 per liter while petrol is over $1.60 per liter! He is selling it now because he has bought a serie 1 505 GTI, which he prefers.

  8. somethings wrong here

icant read dutch, and it says this....Sorry, maar dit e-mailadres is verband.

I'm not sure about the last word, but I think it says: Sorry, but this email-address is banned.

also... Het e-mailadres komt niet overeen met het adres dat bij ons bekend is voor deze gebruiker.

    what does that mean??

This emailaddress does not correspond to the address known to us of this user.

Maybe you used two different emailaddresses during the registration process? (Second message)

Or the address used it rejected because it looks too much like an automatic spammer? I don't think they do it, but it is true that php-forums are very funerable for spam-users. They might have build in a blockage? What was the username you used? I can check with the admin if it is removed because of spam-risk.

I can't see you are registered> There is no new account since 12 juin.

You're sure you completed the form correctly? It's not that difficult:

    Gebruikersnaam: * username

    E-mailadres: * email

    Wachtwoord: * password

    Bevestig wachtwoord: * confirm password

Bevestigingscode: * fill in the code on the screen

  9. Yes, why not join it, there is a lot of expertise and nice pictures. We have more foreign members. Topics in English are no problem. Most members have cars from the 04 series and appreciate original state, but also 205, 305 and 505 are popular. There is also a subforum for the 505.

  10. wow, and this car has euro lights??

After close inspection it doesn't have euro lights I think. They are rare indeed but in France at least was a kit available, designed bij Gruau, to transform your own Break to a pick-up. I know a guy who has two of them (see pictures), but I have never seen another anywhere.

  11. Hahaha!!!

    Oh my god!!

    I LOVE THE DUTCH!!!

God, if only the cops were like that in America.

    Take this for instance...

Near my house (an upperclass housing community), there is this buisness park, with these hella long roads. At night, (about 11 pm), there are big crowds where they have street racing runs.

    THEY ARE SO MUCH FUN!!

When the cops bust it, its not fun anymore...:(

In Holland we always say, 'a cop is your best friend'. And that is the case, if you obey the law.

I have to say, for these semi-legal streetraces, the police won't agree if you want to do it each week. A few times per year is possible on certain locations and if you prepare it well. So make sure the public is not standing on the track and you have a first aid team present at the track and the cars have to be road legal, the drivers need to have a license etc.

    But that's worth the effort!

If you organize a race without discussing it with the police, they are not nice at all. They don't take your license or car immediately, but it's quite sure the drivers will spent the rest of the night in jail.

  12. Hi Bram,

If I were you I'd post to the Peugeot-L mailing list. There should be more than a few owners of 604's that should be interested in trading a US set up for the Euro set up...

It's funny how the grass is always greener on the other side - personally I think the euro set up is FAR superior.

    Rabin

Thanks for the response. That's an option indeed, but I prefer to buy a set so that I can replace the european ones back if I'm going to regret it. :)

  13. I just bought a 604 (don't worry, my 505 stays too), of course it's an european one, but I like the american equal-sized double headlights of the 604 and the chrome border. Can they easily be installed on a european car and does anybody have a clew where I can find maybe a complete front?

To be clear: Here is a photo of my car:

    604SRDT013.jpg

And I'd like to have this front.

    Thanks,

    Bram
