Dédé Posted July 2 Report Posted July 2 Hello everyone, I am new! I have a 1981 Peugeot 305SR wagon, 1.5L 73hp petrol engine. When it starts, everything goes very well; I have no problems with intake or adjustment. On the other hand, it happens regularly that when I try, the dashboard lights up but nothing happens to the starter, not a sound. And then a few hours later it works again as if nothing had happened . Yet my battery and alternator are healthy, I tested them. The contacts on the battery are good too. I thought it was a starter problem, but in general it works perfectly without failure. Do you have any idea what the problem is and what I can do? PS: I’m French, if you are, don’t hesitate to reply to me in French, that works too! Thank you for your advice! Quote
Bean Posted July 2 Report Posted July 2 Welcome to the forum Dédé! You might want to check both positive and negative cables for corrosion / resistance, check all the ground and starter connections, and if the car uses a starter relay. If your ignition switch is getting weak, you can also install a relay to help the starter get full signal to start. Good luck! Rabin Quote
SRDT Posted July 3 Report Posted July 3 Rabin is right about the wiring loom. I had a similar problem, as it worked either fine or not at all for a long time I didn't suspect the wires. Rabin a raison à propos du faisceau. J'ai eu un problème similaire, comme ça marchait soit bien soit pas du tout pendant longtemps je n'ai pas soupçonné les fils. Quote
