Bean Posted February 1 Report Share Posted February 1 NA xu10j4r or boosted? The 4hp22 4sp? What motor was in the car (might determine clutch pack used)? There are some ways to beef up the auto with 4hp24 internals, but if you have modest power goals and not boosted you should be fine. If boosted and over 300HP you likely need to look at drivetrain, but the auto will protect the rest quite well, so have more headroom power wise than you would with an auto. Nobody had made big power yet, so no well documented power limits for any of the components, but 300 rwhp has been the best guess safety limit before you need tn really worry. Rabin It's got the 3hp with the xn1a engine stock but i am looking for the 4hp22, and I will go NA for the time being because of time and budget but later down the line my power goals are gonna be 400whp Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
SRDT Posted February 2 Report Share Posted February 2 The 135hp XU10J4R engine block doesn't have pistons oil jets (unless it's one of the very first ones from a 605/XM) so if you want to run plenty of boost later it's better to start with a XU10J4, XU10J4RS or XU10J2TE engine if possible. SRDT Posted February 3 Report Share Posted February 3 I don't know if you can simply machine the J4R block to J4RS spec, if not you could still create some external plumbing like on the Sierra Cosworth engine. If you don't have a XU10J4R yet then looking for a XU10J4 engine is not a bad idea, the head is the same than the 405 T16 minus the cams and sodium filled valves so you know the design is fine with boost.
