Save these 505's - central Ohio

Recommended Posts

Followed up on a craigslist ad for a 505 diesel for $600. It's more of a project than I can take on, but the guy has a few others.

He wants to get rid of them or crush them so someone needs to save them. If interested I can send his contact info. Fredericktown Ohio

1. 81 505 turbo diesel. turbo is off but it runs and drives. needs work (car I followed up on) needs a repaint

2. 85(?) 505 4cy with nice aftermarket wheels, mud flaps, etc. has been sitting

3. 505 turbo wagon. super nice body and interior. engine is out of it.

Cool! Thanks for posting the pics.

I'm too far to save any of them, but I would have a few things on the list if he decided to part them out if that wagon has the brown / Mink interior.

Those wheels might have been a dealer option - but I'm guessing they're 14's. The steering wheel in the diesel is very cool as well.

Just looked at his advert: "Tires & paint are bad & lots of minor rust deterioration, otherwise structurally solid and worth fixing up. Interior pretty good, could use a shampoo, own this unique classic."

Too bad the rust got to it. I emailed him to see if he was interested in parting any of them out. As for turbo's - I've got 1 spare I would sell if that helps save the car. (Garrett T0302 from an XD3T)

IMO (though consider I live in a state where no hondas before 1995 exist because they've all rusted away) the rust isn't too bad. there are a few holes under the rear seats but structurally it's solid.

the paint can be stripped and it repainted its original colour and it'd look nice.

it was dark coloured, that's all i remember so it could've been dark grey or dark brown or black or something like that. but the interior and exterior were in great shape, just the engine was out. the metric wheels were off it but in okay shape too.

Kevin - any chance you'd be willing to remove parts before those things go to the crusher? (No idea how close you are though.)

I just looked at an 86' 505 Turbo auto in town that popped up, and it's a champaign colour with a brown striped velour, and what looks to be grey vinyl trim interior. If that wagon is the same colour and interior I'd REALLY want the rear seat and the rear door cards. Mostly the rear door cards if it has the cloth inserts on them.

This way I could use the sedan bits to upgrade my wagon, and the rear seats and door cards would finish the rear. Too bad it was so far away a I'd consider 12 hours one way to get my hands on those bits.

Got a response from Steve - if there's no takers and the cars end up heading for the shredder he'll let me know. Wagon has a nice grey interior, waiting to hear if it's leather or cloth.

Remote location makes it even harder to sell these cars... Steve mentioned there was a nice STX that was for sale locally that didn't sell in two years - owner scrapped it... :(

I really want that 85 sedan and the wagon to combine and make the wagon a driver. I'm about an hour from him and no way to tow.

Then there is the 911 Targa for $700 that I want to buy and swap my rotary into...

I need more space and money.

If he contacts you about pulling parts and he doesn't want to ship them I would be probably willing to go pull some.

The engine on the black 85 still turns even though it's the base 4cy. Someone should get that wagon up and running w/ any engine (and put a manual into it...)

You'd have to put wheels on the wagon and tow it out of a field but it's doable and worth it if you have the time to put toward it.
