pug505usa
Hello! I bought this new bosch VE pump from old stock in California. Exactly like the one in my 505 except the little white element on the top right in plastic with the black lever arm. Anyone knows what that is? JunktionFET
The ivory colored plastic piece with the linkage attached is the vacuum modulator for the EGR valve. It was factory installed on all XD2S engine from 1981 to 1984 (exc CA). California cars got a new electronic system in 1984 which did not have that particular component, but the other 49 states still had it. Starting in 1985, all turbodiesels (XD2S and XD3T) had the new electronic system.
pug505usa
Thanks! I guess on my 84 it must have been taken out because the car was sold new from a dealership in San Antonio TX.
Bean
Many people gutted the EGR components so it's likely it's removed. I remember Joe and I discussing repurposing it for a analogue control circuit to control a VNT turbo but I can't remember the details...
