andrethx
so i've read a number of threads on peugeot-l talking about substitutes for the peugeot ball joint tool (9764.73), since the original is hard to find and expensive (WH had it for US$97.34 before they sold their last one!). most of the threads i've seen mention that the hub tool from a full-size ford 4wd truck will work well, but i've never found any posts that had a part number for a tool currently available...some of the threads mention a particular snap-on tool, i've never been able to locate it. i finally found something that fits...got it from summit racing -- performance tool part number W1271, summit racing part number WMR-W1271. it's just the right size, fits on a 1/2" socket wrench. cost me US$10.95 plus shipping. andré

83pgo
whats the distance between the teeth, side to side and cross ways if you can get it? I got the part number you put in but just in case i cant find that, the dimensions should work as well.

I got mine just now from Summit Racing, based on the post by andrethx, delivered to my door in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. I figured I'd need it if I should have to replace my 505's ball joints at some point in the future. My mom's old 1982 Talbot Alpine had the same screw-on ball joint design, and I remember just how hard it was to unscrew the old ones and then screw new ones into the steering knuckles and tightening them using a hammer and chisel, just because we didn't have the proper tool. Thank you andrethx!
